Great 1st 6 channel warbird.
AS3X keeps her very stable. I take off and land in a 90 degree cross wind and as a novice to 6 channel warbirds this has been a joy; especitally landing. The landing flaps slow her down swiftly and predicably. The dark Navy blue presents a noticable challege to keep orientaion during golden hour but Taima AS-8 Navy Blue spray paint is a PERFECT color match for any hanger rash I've gotten. Just fly with caution just before sunset.10 flights in and I'm loving her. Battery: Spektrum 4s 2900mAh.

Full right rudder
Needs full right rudder for take off, but flies really well

Very realistic Warbird
This is a big plane. Have an older 800mm Corsair that I may have crashed....haven't flown this one yet. It is so beautiful hanging on my wall. I will fly it later this Spring, but will practice with the old one first. Very nice plane. Will get another if (when) I get shot down and crash land.

Poorly designed retracts, very unreliable.
This plane was fun to fly, but unfortunately E-flite is aware of a major landing gear flaw with this model. I had it happen on both of them that I bought and have read a lot of other reviews saying the same. A poorly design pin system in the gear is not mounted securely and will just fall from the sky. I made my own and it worked for a while. Beautiful plane, fun and easy to fly but the retracts are very unreliable.

Surprise my Husband for his 60th Birthday with this plane. He Loves this Plane and Fly's with grace and lands so easy.

Landing gear issues
The retractable landing gear looks great as it rotates but . The strut pins DO NOT stay in. They fall out , your gear wheels fall to the ground then you have to crash land. It's a common thing. Several clips on tube showibg faulty landing gear. Those pins are easily lost and you can't find tgem to buy ANYWHERE. Further you can't buy new landing gear after you lose the pins. Nobody sells them. I've had to fly with my gear down for 2 out of the 2 and 1/2 months I've had the plane. Wish I'd never bought it. Parts are very hard to get.

Landing gear WILL bend and collapse
This is the second F4 Elite I've had. The first one, the left landing gear didn't work. Sent it back. The second F4, one of the pins that hold the landing strut in fell out. HORIZON sent me an entire new set of landing gear for me to install. I took it to the park and had 3 smooth landings. WOOHOO!! on the fourth flight, the pin fell out. You wont know the pin fell out until it lands and the gear collapses. You can see the damage on the landing in the pic. I finally soldered the struts into place and flew around with the gear permanently out. It's a shame the landing gear is the wink link, because it's so fun to watch fly in the air.

AS3X ans SAFE do not work
I have no choice but to return this plane as it will not activate AS3X or SAFE. I have sent details of my issue to Horizon Hobbies and Spectrum. I have other E Flight plane that activate AS3X and SAFE without issue. This plane will not.
