![Slither - Collector's Edition [Blu-ray]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81ASZDvEohL.jpg)

Prepare yourself for this terrifying, twisted and chilling film that critics are calling "the most entertaining horror movie in years" (Joe Williams, St. Louis Post-Dispatch).From the co-writer and director of Guardians of The Galaxy and Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 2, comes the deliciously demented story of an unnamed evil wreaking havoc on a small town. Intent on devouring all life on Earth, this dark and slimy entity is infecting anyone in its path. Now it's up to the local sheriff, Bill Pardy (Nathan Fillion, Firefly, Serenity), and his team to stop the spread of rampant devastation—and shocking mutilation—before it's too late. This outrageously funny horror film also stars Michael Rooker (Guardians of The Galaxy, The Walking Dead), Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Pitch Perfect) and Gregg Henry (Body Double, Jason Bourne).Bonus Content:Audio Commentary with Writer/Director James Gunn and Actors Nathan Fillion and Michael RookerThe Genesis of Sllither - An Interview with Writer/Director James GunnThe Other MacReady - An Interview with Actor Gregg HenryAudio Commentary with James Gunn and Nathan FIllion (from 2006)Deleted and Extended Scenes with Optional Commentary by James GunnVisual Effects: Step by StepSlithery Set Tour with Actor Nathan FillionThe Sick Minds and Slimy Days of SlitherBrewing the Blood - How to Make BloodBringing Slither's Creatures to LifeLloyd Kaufman's Video DiaryGag ReelWho is Bill Pardy? FeaturetteTheatrical Trailer Review: A Wild, Gross, and Surprisingly Fun Horror Ride - Slither (Widescreen Edition) is an awesome movie that delivers exactly what it promises: over-the-top horror mixed with dark comedy and plenty of unforgettable moments. It doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes it incredibly fun to watch. The practical effects are gross in the best way, and the creature designs are creative and memorable if you’re a fan of classic monster movies. The cast does a great job balancing humor and horror, making the characters entertaining even when things get ridiculous. The widescreen presentation looks great and really helps show off the chaos and visuals, especially during the more intense scenes. This is the kind of movie that’s perfect for a late-night watch with friends who enjoy laughs along with their scares. Overall, Slither is a cult classic that still holds up. If you like horror with personality, humor, and a lot of messy fun, this DVD is absolutely worth owning. Review: Fast shipping, product as described, in perfect condition, great horror/comedy movie - The Slither widescreen DVD was shipped to me quickly. With zero damage. 5 stars for the seller. Also, I give the movie 5 stars. I have seen it many times. It is a favorite of mine. Many of the desertcart reviews for this product people say it is not a good movie. Intititled to there opinions. However I think (after reading many of them) a lot of them didn't know what they were buying. Just bought it because Nathan Fillon was in it. Thinking it was a serious horror film. This is not a serious horror film. It is a "campy" comedy-horror film writen & directed by James Gunn. Gunn's films do tend to be a bit "different" in a great way. In my opinion. If you take Slither for what it is. It is a great film. Its has a great cast, awesome special fx & funny dialogue & situations. As well as some good scares and freaky moments. I think it us well worth the $10.99 I paid. Since you can't download it for less than that. Unless it is to rent it. Also, the download doesn't include the extras, like the commentary with James Gunn & Nathan Fillon.

Gory, Gooey Sci-Fi Horror Throwback That is Brilliant
My love for this movie started the day I saw it in theaters. It was weird, but after the opening scene, establishing the Mayor honking and yelling vulgarities, going to a talk about "Survival of the Fittest" where Elizabeth Banks asks in a kind of dopey southern accent if humans or cockroaches are the more successful species, I knew that this was my kind of product. I had an idea of what was ahead of me, but at that point (and noting that the town of Wheelsy where our story takes place has a high school with the mascot 'The Cooters') I felt like I was right where I belonged. The movie does hit half a dozen horror scenarios (i.e. giant alien slugs, dual tentacle injectors, acid-spitting zombies, etc.), but it never felt like it was just going from one reference to another. "Slither" has an organic plot that stops at those points when writer/director James Gunn fits them in, and the timing between the scares and the laughs hits "Evil Dead"-related highs. This is one of my favorite horror-comedies right up there with "Evil Dead 2." The references are aplenty, so horror movie, specifically sci-fi horror movie, knowledge helps one enjoy this classic work of camp but such knowledge isn't necessary. Plus anyone who has seen "A Nightmare on Elm Street" can spot a 'bathtub scene'reference from a mile a way- just look at the cover. I just can't sufficiently put into words how happy this movie makes me, so I won't try any more.

Slither special edition gives new life to an underrated flick!
Slither is a fun and delightfully gory horror/comedy from Guardians of the Galaxy writer/director James Gunn, that is sadly overlooked and underrated…until now! Once again the awesome folks at Scream Factory have given a flick the respect and treatment it deserves with this new special edition. This title in particular has always been a personal favorite and this disc was obviously anxiously awaited. Let’s find out if it delivered… On a technical level the film image is clear and sharp with some nice contrast, while maintaining the original color palette that Gunn filmed it in. The flesh tones, both human and in-human being the most vibrant colors aside from the gore. The movie is presented in the original 1.85.1 aspect ratio, preserving the film’s original dimensions. The sound is in 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio with alternate 2.0 DTS-HD for those without home theater sound systems. The original extras from the DVD are presented in the video format ratio of 1:33:1 that they were filmed in. Remember it was 2006 and the TVs those extras were made for still came in the square format. Now on to the extensive extras which make this disc so worth having!… Scream Factory has added some new features in addition to including all the fun extras from the initial DVD release. We get new commentary from James Gunn with Nathan Fillion and Michael Rooker, aside from the original commentary with Gunn and actor Nathan Fillion. We also get new interviews with both writer/director Gunn and actor Gregg Henry and it is interesting to hear Gunn reminisce about the flick now that he’s had such success with the Guardians of the Galaxy films. From there we get deleted and extended scenes with optional James Gunn commentary. We get a step by step of some of the film’s visual FX. We get a fun tour of the set with actor Nathon Fillion, followed by an amusing profile of his character Bill Pardy. There’s a documentary from the original release called The Sick Minds And Slimy Days Of Slither. One of the FX crew humorously gives us a fake blood recipe in Brewing The Blood. There is another FX documentary about how the slimy critters were brought to life and a short video diary with Troma creator Lloyd Kaufman on set for a cameo, which sadly was cut from the final print. The extras wrap up with a fun gag reel and the original theatrical trailer. A nice batch of extras for a movie only now starting to get the notice it deserves. This is a personal favorite and a flick that is finally finding an audience after being overlooked upon initial release. It’s a fun horror/sci-fi flick that pays homage to many of it’s influences, yet not without having it’s own identity. If you’re a fan of the film, it’s a must have disc. If you are just discovering James Gunn through his Guardian’s movies, than this is definitely an item you may want to check out. Another great disc from Scream Factory.

Slither is a horror comedy that riffs on a lot of familiar ideas - space invaders, body snatchers, The Blob, and David Cronenberg's body horror movies - adds a variation on the John Carpenter's second banana who thinks he's the hero (Big trouble in Little China), and blends these disparate elements into a scary, creepy, funny film that is more than sum of its (inspired) parts. Nathan Fillion is terrific as the lead character who isn't really the hero; Elizabeth Banks is equally fine as the film's real hero, who certainly doesn't see herself that way, and Michael Rooker is the guy who's possessed by the alien intelligence that's behind all the creepy, scary goings on. This was writer/director James Gunn's first time directing - he previously wrote The Specials (a lovely little superhero satire about the world's seventh most popular superhero group - find it and grab it; it's very good), and Zack Snyder's Day of the Dead remake (one of Snyder's best films and a genuine classic) - and it is a horror-comedy masterpiece. The Shout!Factory edition has all the bonus material from the original DVD release (the commentary track is a lot of fun) plus new interviews with Gunn and Rooker, and a second commentary that is most mostly anecdotes from the set and not nearly enough technical stuff (of which, the original commentary provides sufficient) but is charming and hugely entertaining.

A fabulous horror flick, some great actors in this film, the ever brilliant Nathan Fillion, the superb Gregg Henry, a wonderful Elizabeth Banks and lovely Tania Saulnier, not to mention the galactic Michael Rooker. You can't go far wrong if Nathan Fillion is in the cast and he leads the rag bag tag of survivors against the alien parasite that is infecting his small town. Some great chases, some truly jumpy moments, throw in some comedy and you have one of the best horrors films on the big screen. Buy it!
