Quick and Easy
Much faster and cleaner method to close a full thickness wound. I prefer this to mastistol and sterie strips as it saves time and creates less of a mess. The adhesions lasted up to the 7 days requires for my laceration to heal without any lifting. The skin was, understandly, left irritated for 1-2 days following removal.

Great addition to a wilderness medkit.
Some things are best left to the professionals...like sewing up a large laceration. However, there are times when you may need to do some wound closures and you don't have the luxury of going down to the local ER because it's 3 days away. Putting in sutures is a technical art and while it's not too hard to learn, it takes practice and regular use in order to stay moderately proficient at it. I do keep some suture supplies as a last resort because they are so small and lightweight, but I also normally keep a medical stapler in my main med bag because it takes way less technical training to use it effectively. These Zip-Stitch closures are kind of the best of both worlds. They are lighter and smaller than the stapler, but less require less expertise than the needle and thread. The major downside to these is the cost, they are way more expensive than the other options. However, they are also small enough that I'm planning on adding a couple to my smaller medkit, so that they are a bit more accessible, even for short hikes. Like many things in life, you pay for quality and convenience and this is no exception. Worth every penny if you need it.

Good to keep on hand
These are good to have on hand in a first aid kit or emergency supply. They are convenient and save a trip to get a few stitches.

Not very sturdy, falls off
The concept of this product is fantastic but the adhesive pad that attaches to skin comes off extremely easily which defeats the entire purpose of wound closure.

IFAK Sized – Field Expedient Zip-Tie Style Suturing Kit
Outer box contains two complete sets of vinyl gloves and wound site prep kits (2 ea. 70% Isopropyl alcohol pad, 2 ea. cotton tip swabs per kit), along with two (2) individually sterile wound closure devices measuring 2 1/2-inches-square, and two (2) 4-inch-square protective bandages. There is a three (3) year shelf life indicated on packaging. Instead of having traditional threaded sutures (after severe bleeding has been stopped on a deep slash and wound area has been cleaned), you apply the adhesive bandage gap over the centerline of the wound to be closed, and then tighten two (2) zip closures to pull the edges of the wound together. Trim the excess length of the plastic zip tie, and cover the whole area with provided 4-inch bandage.Around $11 apiece (at time of writing), these are not inexpensive, but if professional medical care is not immediately available, these can be a workable option. Largest (cover bandage) of moisture-resistant single-unit paper-backed sterile packaging measures 5 1/2-inches long x 6-inches tall (U.S. Quarter Dollar shown for sizing comparison), making these supplies appropriately sized for an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK). I believe these are a great value item to have for home emergency medical kits. Thanks for indicating if you’ve found my photos and comments helpful in your consideration of this item.
