Buyer beware....
The first thing I did was wash these and run them through the dryer to tighten up the threads and get them to a shrunken size. These things are HUGE. I cut one of them into four pieces, hemmed the edges and they are still big enough to pull light duty for drying dishes or you could use them for napkins. I could cut one in half and down to a more standard size dish towel and save the remnants for another project (I already have plans for this). These are so versatile you can't go wrong if you can sew. I figured out that a full size one could be turned into a table cloth for a small table if you needed that. And with applique, embroidery or fabric markers, you could decorate them almost anyway you want. Love these and recommend them.UPDATE: I'm not entirely sure what happened to one of these towels. Out of the blue and for no reason we can discern, one of them suddenly has a huge brown stain on it that cannot be removed. I've tried soaking it in OxiClean and detergent overnight. When that failed, I turned to good old bleach and hot water and the stain will not budge. I've had to remove stars for this product now afraid I'm about to end up with a bunch of stained towels.SECOND UPDATE: I figured out where the staining happened. It was from a piece of brown paper that was laying on the counter. Apparently there is something in brown paper that acts like a dye? At any rate, it stains permanently, so don't leave that around these things. I'm back to liking the quality of these towels and have removed the offending paper (which someone gave me with cookies wrapped inside, so should I still eat them?).

Very useable......
Really big and a fairly heavy material. Probably need to be laundered quite a few times before they get really soft. Great deal... .

Well worth the money! Great quality. Good for many uses.
I love the quality of these towels. Nice density and absorbent. I've used them fsor proofing bread; in making sourdough starter; and for wrapping my hair when getting out of the shower! I can skip using heavy towels which creates loads of laundry quickly. Just hang up these flour sack towels and they dry very quickly! The set of 7 flour sack towels 33 x 38cost $2.29 a piece ($15.99 a pack). The 12 towel set 28 x 28 runs $2.50 a piece ($29.99 a pack). So: 7 towel set is a bigger towel and cost less per towel. These towels can be pretty wrinkled right out of the dryer. Something I do with them (like all my laundry) is before putting them in the dryer shake them out real well and give each side a tug by holding two opposite corners. They come out of your dryer much less wrinkled and by shaking them out they dry quicker too! Money well spent on purchasing these flour sack towels!

good quality, nice tight weave
I haver recently taken up embroidery. I have memories of my grandmother using flour sack cotton for her dishtowels. The weave was always loose and the hems uneven. I'm so happy to have found these "linen and towel" dishtowels to work on. My stitches come out even and the finished product is high quality. The 1/4" machine stitched hems lay flat. I like that on one corner there is a loop to hang the towel from, just in case. I have bought these twice, first the larger 38 x 38, and now the 33 x 38. I love them both. The size depends on your needs, but I prefer the smaller towels.

Good size and sturdy toweling
These kitchen towels just arrived today and are thick and sturdy. I purchased the pack of seven to make small kitchen towels. We use too many paper towels a day, and I plan to make a couple dozen small towels. I know this will help cut the cost of our paper "habit" and waste. I figured by folding one of the towels that I can get six good size individual towels from just one. Although I haven't used them in the kitchen yet, I know they are going to be worth every penny. Well worth the price and would order more for my daughters as gifts!

I've been looking for towels like these for a while
I've been looking for towels like these for a while. Ones that are TRULY absorbent. Well these are certainly the best ones I've found and I am actually going to order more. They are quite big, FYI. We haven't washed them yet so I'm assuming the absorbency will even improve once we do. The quality is definitely there. My main complaint is that the bunch came wrapped in plastic. Please, please, PLEASE change your packaging to something compostable. We need to get rid of non-recyclable plastic for good.

Reallt strong towel
I'm using this to wrap my homemade bread for freshness. I stored the bread in a plastic bread box previously and I didn't like how a couple of days old bread fared - wasn't good texture and taste was blah. But I have to say that wrapping this towel tightly around the bread helps keep it fresher, and if the bread is still around for 3 or 4 days, it's still better tasting that the plastic box. Good value

Absorbent with Considerable Thickness Without Being Stiff
These towels are not done flimsy material. They have a considerable thickness, without being stiff. I do not like the Terry cloth dishtowels, which can leave lint on glassware. These linen, flour cloths are easy to work with and dry dishes and countertops well. The sack dishtowels that I purchased, are quite large and lend themselves to a multitude of uses (dishtowel, placemats, artwork, and more). Be sure to wash these towels before use to release any sizing in the fabric which can repel water instead of absorbing it.
