Dubbed & Freq'd: A Remix

I played it for the first time today in my car. Got me to my doctors appointment in fine form (30 minute ride). The only song I really didn't care for was the last one...too much metallic techno for me. I still prefer the original cuts, but a few of these got it going for me. Hey, not bad for this old great-grandma (grands call me the "cool grandma"). If you want to make those woofers woof, Toby is your man.

First of all, I am no fan of "Tonight". Didn't like it when it debuted, and still don't like it. This remix, album, though, is what I had hoped "Tonight" would sound like. Instead of short radio pop singles, Mr. McKeehan serves up a full-fledged electronic/dubstep compilation of songs from "Portable Sounds" and "Tonight." A handful of remixes already existed (Boomin', Ignition, Hold On, Captured), but they fit in nicely with the new ones.Tobymac is a master producer, and his remix albums easily stand alone by themselves (sometimes even improving original songs). If you like remix albums (like me), this is a nice addition to your collection. I haven't enjoyed a Tobymac album as much since "Portable Sounds". For those who loved or hated "Tonight", this release shouldn't disappoint.

I have all the Toby Mac and DC talk albums and so far this is by far my favorite CD. I know it is a remix of "tonight" but it is so much better I would defiantly get this album over the original. "Tonight" wasn't bad but this takes all the Christian cheese out of that album and just makes a good with the times CD. I believe if it could get played on reguluar radio stations it could compete well. Honestly, the jury is still out there for me on if I like Dub Step which this album has a bit of but it is so mild that I actually am becoming more of a fan. If you like high energy music with a good beats and a good message this is the album for you.

I've liked all of TobyMac's music, and this is no exception. This is a bit different, though. As other reviewers have mentioned, these are dance remixes. I happen to like this style as well as hip hop. Also, if you have all of his other releases, including bonus tracks and singles, you may recognize some of the tracks on here. The remixes of "Boomin'" and "Ignition" are the same as the two bonus tracks on  Portable Sounds With Bonus Remixes . The "Lose My Soul" remix was included with the single release of "City On Our Knees". "Captured" and "Hold On" were both included on  Tonight Deluxe Edition . (If you have most or all of these 5 remixes already, you can save a bit of money by buying the other tracks separately.)

As far as the remixes go, I like most of them a lot. Some of the tracks I really don't enjoy, however, and I will say that none of the tracks on this album are, in my opinion, better than the original songs. Still, in just the same manner, there are a few tracks on this album that I do enjoy listening to, but again, they are still not at good as the original songs.I bought it, and enjoyed it, but now I barely listen to it. It's just cool to have if you're a fan of TobyMac.

Toby never disappoints with his high energy mix of dance, RnB, and hip-hop. If you like what he does, you'll like this. I'd say the slower songs would probably have been better off left alone than having all the eletronic chatter added to them, but the full-on dance mixes are great.

The album recognizes modern trends toward new genres of electronic music. I like how elements from dubstep and electro house are present in the album alongside the lyrics, smooth vocals, and compositional prowess of McKeehan and his associates. Although I would very much like to see some new songs from TobyMac, the remixes are always novel and interesting takes on previous good works.

Our first Toby Mac cd and I chose this cd as it has songs from a few albums. Lots of lively and fast paced tracks which are growing on me the more I listen to them.

Great album from Toby, I think it's his best so far. Contains lots of his best and most well known tracks remixed to a very high and contemporary standard by various artists. And as always, great customer service from Amazon too.

This CD is a collection of re-mixes of tobyMac's hit songs. Most tobyMac fans would like this CD, it is much more techno than his normal music but I still like it.
