Product Description TobyMac's new record TONIGHT is the highly anticipated follow up to the best-selling album Portable Sounds. Continuing Toby's unique ability to blend musical influences TONIGHT has an amazing mix of rock, pop, urban and hip hop sounds and styles. It features the smash hit single "City On Our Knees" From the Artist "'City On Our Knees' is really about a moment," says Toby. "A moment that we all come together to a place where there's no judgment, but really love. And we choose to recognize one God together. And it's really a reminder that that moment could be right now, tonight. And in that moment judgment falls by the wayside, we choose to step across the line, whatever side we're on. Love fills in the cracks and makes up the difference."

The Making of a Classic, cont.
The lead song, Tonight is muy beuno with a sweet flowing sound. "With hearts that want more tonight" is there any reason to wait any longer? Following the same vein are Start Somewhere and City on Our Knees. Start Somewhere says to me--after all it's just the world stuff, put it aside and get moving on what God wants. City on Our Knees has a soft rhythem background, but it's the words that are important here. If something's important enought to do, what are we waiting for? "Two world's collide"--says to me--endless possibilities of what we can do, where we can go. Loud N Clear, is cute, Trudog is a crackerjack, but no pressure here, on this representative of the next generation. Showstopper is upbeat, kids just having fun in a positive way. This is heavy beat song, so instead of just lean with us, get ready to jump with us. Get Back Up is likeable, having two different styles that work well together well, but that's tobyMac, I can hear--love calling, love calling-- in the back of my head in some difficult situations. Captured has the hint of "Consume Me", let me get into God more and more. A heavy idea, but what I like most is the scrappy sound. Changed Forever is a bang up perforance by Nirva, a just love it sound with a big league message. Hold On--now did I hear that right? "Hold onto The Hand that's holding you" What a concept--God's already got a hold of me, but I have to take an acitve part and hold onto God, too? And then, Break Open the Sky, love that easy does it Jamacian influence and a reminder this world is not our home, "waiting for a crack in the sky" beautiful way to end the album.

Great Album!
If you're looking for something fresh, I reccomend you buy this album. The first 4 tracks are really good. Tonight is a rock/techno song that I just can't get enough of. Get Back Up is a mix of Made To Love and I'm For You with a hot beat and a really nice bridge. Funky Jesus Music is the greatest party song Toby ever made.I would say its a mix of funk and hip-hop.We all know what City On Our Knees is. A great song. After that comes showstopper. This ones okay, but I'm not a big fan of it. If you like The Slam, and Extreme Days you'll love it. The next song I absoluetly love; it's called Changed Forever. During the verses and bridge he raps, and the chorus has a rock sound to it. Hold on is next and I would say its a softer version of City On Our Knees with a little bit of autotune.Next comes Tru-Dog with LoudNclear. This is a funny song and probably the best one tru-dogs ever done. The next song is probably the worse song on the album(probably cause I'm 16); Hey Devil. It reminds me of 80's or early 90's rock such as Stryper, And Wally from Total Axxess if you're reading this you better play more hip-hop! After that the rest of the songs are pretty good especially the remixes. The DVD was very interesting too. In conclusion I would say that this album has plenty of growth from Portable Sounds. It definatly has better beats with an electric sound to it cuz of the autotune. I think this song could win album of the year, I reccomend for you to get it if you want some good music.

Funky Jesus Music
I've been following TobyMac since his first albums with DCTalk came out without hiding away from using the "J-word". Whether it was Jesus being still alright, refusal to "tweak the word freak" just to get a song on the air or riding the "J-Train", his whole career (almost to the point where half his albums are from his solo career) can be summed up by the title of track 3: Funky Jesus Music.I am a huge fan of his collaborations in the past but this record hit me perfectly as 2 of my non-toby-related fav groups are Skillet (John Cooper assists on track 1, Tonight) and Relient K (Matthew Thiessen assists on track 10, Wonderin'). They aren't exactly getting 50% of the voice time but the songs are great and obviously influenced by the collaborator's style. The deluxe version has a few remixes, and while I'm a huge fan, I have to say... I'm kind of dissapointed we didn't get a total remix of Portable Sounds before this as we had with the first two albums. I'm guessing with a few already here, there won't be a total remix of this either.Personal Favs: Tonight, Showstopper, Changed Forever, Hey Devil and of course, the next episode in Toby's heir apparent, TruDog in LoudNClear.

The Mac is back !
There's a lot to like on Toby Mac's TONIGHT. Is it perfect ? No. But its got a lot going for it. Honestly, I'm not that crazy about the title track. But once I get over that hump there's some real high points including CITY ON OUR KNEES, a slow jam with a powerful message. SHOWSTOPPER picks up the beat and is a lot of fun. HEY DEVIL is a real rocker that paints a great word picture. Stylistically, and lyrically, START SOMEWHERE could actually be a sequel to Livin' La Vida Loca . Certainly worth a good long look, and multiple listens, Tonight is another win in Toby Mac's column.

outstanding
My being a very big fan of TobyMac makes it easy to say, I have favorite songs and when, I received the DVD included truly made it special.I love the DVD with the down home honest truth of the Man his friends and music ............. particularly the explanations of his relationship with Mr. Tait made it clear of the words to a couple of the songs I thought were really really great. I have a couple of family youth who actually cause me to really start listening to the words for I already loved the musicand I started to share/minister/encourage along with following Toby's uplifting music which introduced me to Michael Tait, and Mandisa whom I adore. The vendor service was excellent, and speedy.Thank you.

really great!
At first the album seemed far to mainstream to me, with the electronically altered voices and computer-made synths. However, after a while of listening to the songs, I realised they all carry a certain freshness and clarity, which many christian artists nowadays seem to lack. The vocals from Nirva Ready are beautifully soulful on 'Changed Forever', and I love the slight jamaican flavour infused with synths in 'Start Somewhere'.Definately worth buying!
