Go, Go, Trucks! (Step into Reading)

Page 21 has a man with open door to his truck saying, “get inside” to kids on the sidewalk.That’s not teaching kids to be safe!Wish I saw this page before purchasing this “Go, Go, Trucks!” book.

So, first of all, the reviewer that said it has kids hopping in a car as if it’s supporting kidnapping is absolutely crazy. It shows a mom in THE DRIVEWAY saying to hop in, and on the next page they are happily looking at trucks out the window. The person who wrote that review is definitely overreacting. That being said, I gave this product two stars because it’s written poorly, it doesn't even rhyme all the way through, only at parts. It’s also NOT suitable for kids who are just beginning to read. One of the pages says “garbage trucks to truck the yuck” what kid who doesn't know how to read at all can read the word “garbage”?? So in that regard it is a lose for me. But my son only wants to read books about trucks so he likes for me to read it to him anyway. If you want to get your young child reading, look into Bob Books, they only use 5 letters in the first volume and they add a few letters every subsequent book, so it is great for kids who really don't know how to read yet.

Lots of good rhyming and repetition. Some colors and some counting, it tells a great tale. For the scene referencing getting into the truck, I just add a line about mommy telling them to get in. The graphics look like the woman would be their mom.

For those who buy these books and then complain that it’s not a good book to read TO your child, you are missing the point. These books are specifically designed for your child to read them to YOU (or later/higher levels, to themselves). That being said, this is a perfect Level 1 beginning reader book. Few words on each page. Simple words they can sound out. Builds throughout so the child progresses. Perfect fit!

The pages are inserted upside down. So when we open the front cover you see the last page with the words all upside down.Not worth the effort to return but seriously disappointed in the quality control.

I haven't done this book yet with my little guy. I did his first one Too Many Cats and have incorporated a few from his sight word series that have sight words they are doing in school for that given week so I will be gradually adding another one once he perfects those few so it's not overwhelming however, I have read thisyself to see if it's going to be a good candidate for his first readers collection and it most definitely is? I can't wait to add this to his "I can read" magic pile of books.

This book was a little tricky for my new reader. It was still a good purchase for our library.

Two year old loves this book - vibrant pictures, various truck types, sizes and colors, short text (great for his attention span) and portable with the soft cover. Highly recommend if you know a little one that loves trucks!

Was looking for books to help with sight words. A great starter book. Would definitely recommend . Came quickly and in great condition!
