CRAFTSMAN Tool Box, Lockable, 16 in., Red/Black (CMST16901)

This is a well built plastic toolbox and looks very nice has well. I like the front metal closing bracket. Stays closed and you can also add a lock. I also like the removable tray. I had 2 minor problems with it. It only opens 90 degrees and has a tendency to close on you by itself. Another 10 degrees of opening would not hurt. I got around that for now by adding weight in the top pockets (nails, screws, ....). The second is that there really is not anything to grab hold of to open the top lid if you are trying to open it from the front. The rest of the toolbox is so nice that I tended to overlook these minor inconveniences and I did not deduct any stars. The cost was right.

The Craftsman is a good quality product both sturdy and hard wearing. This box is medium sized idel for house or office use, large enough to carry most hand tools. It features a tray and two compartments in the lid for smaller items. The box is very light weight and comes with a metal latch for secure closure. I am sure this box is durable enough for everyday usage. I tend to use these medium sized tool boxes for storage for my hobby tools such as my airbrushes, hoses and tools keeping them safe were I can find them. The price is good too.

The first toolbox was delivered damaged, so I immediately returned it for a replacement @3 in the afternoon. The replacement toolbox was on my doorstep within 4 hours! WOW! I was buying this for my grandson's first tool box, who had seen mine and liked it. Great toolbox for small jobs around the house. It's the perfect size and weight for me (the grandma) to do miscellaneous jobs in the house and in my craft room. My husband has his own big rolling toolbox , but likes to use mine for smaller needs inside. Thank you Amazon, for such quick service!

It's just ok. The hinges on the lid don't seem built to last and the latch is thin metal. It's ok for light tools. The lid doesn't fall open all the way because the cheap hinges don't work great and the lid is much heavier than the bottom, so if there aren't enough tools in the bottom, the box will tip back when you open the lid. The box part seems durable enough. I appreciate the removable tray.

Great little tool box for around the house. Bought one for my mom and it fits all her essential tools in one convenient place. If you're a craftsman or workshop warrior this will be way too small for you. But for basic needs around the house it's great.

My daughter needs a tool box of her own now that she’s got her own place. When she was in college, we bought her one of those tool sets where everything had its own space in the foam liner and it closed like a book. In the 10 years since then, she’s gotten new tools & Allen wrenches from all the furniture she’s put together. I have a giant craftsman tool box that I’ve had for over 35 years. I thought this was a “mini” version of mine. However, my lock is much more sturdy than this one. It doesn’t exactly feel secure (like if it had a lot of weight in it, the locking clasp might not hold and you’d end up only holding the lid.) It’s not a bad size for someone just starting out, or someone who owns a condo (like her), but if you own a home, you might want to upgrade to another tool box that has a more secure lock and can store more tools.

I had random tools lying around for small repairs, etc. around the condo. And now I don't. The lid doesn't flip more than 90 degrees, but it's better than my other tool box where its lid flips all the way back and topples over. Made of strong, durable plastic, and the metal latch is strong too. Overall, this toolbox doesn't feel like it's going to fall apart given the weight of it now with everything inside.

I bought this for the tools I like to keep handy at my desk. The quality is good. My only gripe is that the lid doesn't open far enough. It opens to the vertical position. I wish it would open all the way back so I have better access and don't have to worry about it closing on me.
