Nick and Charlie (Heartstopper)

Came to the last page and I’m crying because I’m so happy. I’m crying because I’ve read all the books. Alice Oseman is a wonderful writer who has captured teenage love so well. I’m a 70+ year old woman and the book made me remember young love. The characters that she has created are so real. So nice. So caring. Not a bad among them. All of Oseman’s books will be read again when it’s time to feel cozy and happy. And when I want/need my heart filled. Thank you Alice Oseman!

I love the heart in this one. The way Charlie feels afterwards things haven’t gone back to normal, they’re better.

Daughter loves this show. Great book.

This was a present for my daughter when she turned 12 and she loved it. It's a great book to introduce the LGBT community in a fun and loving way. She read the whole series of books in 1 weekend.

4 stars - It was really good Nick and Charlie have been together for two years now but their relationship is being put to the test with Nick heading to university. This was an emotional rollercoaster ride, like all of Nick and Charlie’s stories are. I felt everything in this book, from happiness to wanting to bawl my eyes out. Charlie is struggling with the fact that Nick will be leaving him for university soon. Unfortunately, everyone keeps telling him long distance relationships don’t work and it causes him to doubt their relationship. Their argument was so upsetting I just wanted to cry for these two because you know they love each other but they can’t see past their fear at that moment. While this is a very short novella, a lot happens with their relationship. You see them both struggle and overcome their fears. I just adore these two and their heartfelt relationship. It always feels so lifelike and there is so much emotion between them, especially with how short their stories are. I would love to see another novella or full book with them in the future , either while in college or after. Content warnings: brief mentions of anorexia

After watching Season One of Heartstopper, I read the following volumes on Webtoons. Naturally, they left me wanting more, so while I considered waiting until Volume 5 of Heartstopper was out (and reading it first) , I opted not to wait. This was really a quick, lovely read. There's a level of consistency between the books and the characters' personalities that makes the whole Heartstopper/Nick and Charlie experience nearly seamless. I recognize there were some character adds/changes between the TV version and the books (Aled vs Isaac; introducing Imogene, etc.). However, when you're reading the monologues and interactions between the characters, it's all quite cohesive. So, Charlie and Nick sound like Charlie and Nick. Tori is definitely Tori. And Tao...whether on TV or in the books, Tao is most definitely Tao! :) Such an enjoyable experience. I wholeheartedly and enthusiastically recommend Nick and Charlie to anyone who loves these characters. :)

A story that really puts a smile on your face. For heartstopper's fansit is the perfect gift and a perfect complement to the main series.

I love every ounce of this series. It has made me feel like a teenager again. My 10 year reunion is this year and these stories have reminded me of how much I really miss that time of my life. It felt so raw and real and I’m so thankful there’s a story I feel like I can relate to. It brought back all those first time feelings, good and bad. I cannot wait for everything that is to come! I came out when I was 16 and it was a scary thing to do at that time, but I’m so thankful I was able to have the courage to be myself back then. It has been such a gift to read these. Love reading all the updated adult life content of Nick and Charlie as it reminds me of my boyfriend of 7 years. Thank you so so much, Alice!

Sim, como os jovens dizem hoje em dia, sou extremamente cadelinha de Alice Oseman. Conheci a autora através de seu trabalho com as HQ's de Heartstopper, e desde então os personagens Nick and Charlie tomaram de assalto o meu coração e os acompanho religiosamente a cada novo volume. Mesmo assim, nunca li nenhuma história dela narrada de forma 'tradicional' (eu sei que o termo correto é "prosa") , e para esta experiência eu não poderia ter escolhido outro livro além de "Nick and Charlie" - a novela que se passa depois de seu romance de estreia, Um Ano Solitário, e alguns anos depois dos acontecimentos que foram explorados até o momento na série em quadrinhos. Reencontrar estes dois no último ano do Ensino Médio foi divertido, e diferente e me revelou facetas de ambos que de fato não conhecia. Todo o plot da novela se dá justamente pelo fato de Nick estar se formando e Charlie continuará por mais um ano na escola, então eu já sabia que a Alice nos levaria para o conflito com relação ao distanciamento e como cada um estava lidando com isto (o que me rendeu meu primeiro "desentendimento" com o personagem do Nick, que em uma certa parte achei meio intransigente - mas logo me lembrei que, ok, ambos são adolescentes, então não importa muito quem está "certo" ou "errado", só o que estão sentindo. Mas o importante é que no fim perdoei ele.). Peguei alguns spoilers de Um Ano Solitário e do que ainda vai acontecer em Heartstopper? Provavelmente. Mas eu já fui ler preparado para isto, então sinceramente não me arrependo. A escrita, mesmo em inglês, foi super fluída - e nem vi as páginas passando. Dividido em seis partes, com capítulos narrados tanto por Charlie quanto por Nick, ainda fui presenteado por ilustrações inéditas da autora, que dão um recheio todo especial para o livro e nos fazem conectar imediatamente aos personagens dos quadrinhos. Enfim, nem preciso dizer que AMEI (em caixa alta, mesmo) esta leitura, não é mesmo? Foi fofo e divertido e especial (e também dramático) como só estes personagens da Alice Oseman pode ser, e eu me deletei em cada página exatamente por isto.

This was honestly such a cute book with ups and downs of Nick and Charlie’s relationship. It’s more about the preparation towards going to university rather than their long distance relationship. I really liked that the bonus content did, however, show a glimpse of their long distance relationship. It’s worth reading the aftermath of the Netflix series.
