Q: Why is Calcium in this? I’ve always been told to avoid calcium and iron together.

Vitamin C helps the absorption of iron, however ascorbic acid is not stable with the Optiferin form so Pure Encapsulations uses calcium ascorbate. The amount of calcium is not enough to interfere with absorption.

Pure Encapsulations Optiferin-C contains mineral iron from iron ore bound to synthetic glycine. The calcium ascorbate is derived from calcium from mineral ore and ascorbic acid from corn dextrose fermentation.

Q: Is this iron chelated?
