Can this be operated while sitting on the edge of a hospital bed?

I don’t have a hospital bed; however, I would guess this exercise equipment would be usable.

Would this be good for paralyzed limbs? Do the pedals and hand cycle work together or separately?

They work separately. I purchased it for my moms PT.

For me the hand pedal is very comfortable, but the foot pedal is a little awkward ( I have a leg that doesn't cooperate) but I do like that I can change to tension on the pedals, which allows me a better workout.
