Great Way to bring back life to your outdoor furniture
My old pillows were stained even though I had treated with scotch guard. I figured I couldn’t go wrong with this stuff. It already looked bad. The sizes of the cushions were hard to find so this was the best option I could come up with. The batch of cans I had sprayed fine. But did get some that seemed to be clogging inside the can. The pressure of the paint would just go away and splutter to a stop. But once I got new cans they did great. Now going from white to navy took a lot of coats. I used overall 4 cans of this stuff, so expect to basically use a can per cushion you have. It stiffens up the fabric some but I do think it will soften with time and much softer than had I just used spray paint. I finished it off with heavy duty scotch guard though I am certain had I not, it would have been still great and expect these to hold up. And will be easy to touch up as it fades (if it even does!) Looking back I wish I had chosen a color closer to the original color, perhaps the light gray, because it took a lot of coats. My sister in law will be trying the green on her green cushions and I can’t wait to see the results. I included the before, during, and after photos.

This works well
This worked so well. I used it on faded patio furniture cushions in June 2025. The color is rich and has not faded in the last 6 months. I live in Colorado, it’s very sunny here. The color did not bleed on our clothing when we sat in the cushions or in the rain. We got another summer out of the cushions. I would definitely use this product again.

Thin product, order 2X expected no. of cans
The chili-red color was an exact match to our old umbrella. The "paint" is very thin and more like a liquid dye, so you'll need twice as many cans as you'd expect to use. It looks good once dry, but takes a lot more coats to approach that new look again. Update: received 4 cans to finish job. All were a nightmare of constant clogging. Paint stramed onto the canvas at times. The end result is a streaked, mis-match of color which resembles a tye-dyed t-shirt. So disappointed after the expensive mess this made.

Cheap way to cover old fabric
I have used the spray on two fabric styles now. I first decided to try it on an arm chair I got from pier 1 close to 8 years ago and the fabric didn’t match anything o had anymore and my curiosity got the better of me so I decided to try fabric paint. It took me 7 bottles/cans to evenly cover the entire arm chair. Took about 5 days to fully dry so there wasn’t any smudging paint. The one challenge I had was making sure the painting was evenly across the fabric as it had the tendency of lighter and darker coverage areas so that took some getting use to. The paint quality is durable and a solid navy blue color which was what I had wanted. It has been about 6 months since I painted the chair and it still looks good. You can use this paint to change the color of a fabric or cushion but keep in mind if the fabric has a texture on it the textured pattern will remain.

Great for cotton hats
I regret not taking a “before” photo, but am very pleased with the “after” results. I had several cotton baseball caps that had bleached completely to a blotchy gray from washing and sun. I tried fabric dyes and other products to renew the original blue, but had poor results and they didn’t last. Though this product did not spray cleanly (it was a little chunky), the paint sunk in surprisingly evenly. I used a brush to even out the paint on the bill, but otherwise it did soak in and cover evenly everywhere I put two coats on each hat and am pleased with the results. As this is a paint, and not a dye, I anticipate that it won’t wash or bleach like the other products I tried. The instructions say to wait 3 days before washing. I’ll update this review if I find that it doesn’t last, but I have plenty of paint left for recoating as needed.

Do NOT use for stencils!
This is very thin an wicks through the fabric. Its almost like a cross between a die and a paint. If you try to use it for a stencil it will ruin your project. Seems fine for other purposes.

Super easy spraying
The Rust-Oleum Fabric Paint did its jo just fine. My 9-foot umbrella is over 9 years old and faded from bright Red to pink. I used 2 cans of paint, one for each layer. I also added a “trigger grip” to the Rust-Oleum can and the job went easily and took a little over 2 hours, spraying two layers and waiting about an hour between sprays. The color, Chili Red is more Orange than red, but looks good with red brick. (See my photos). There was no clogging up of the paint spray as some reviewers stated, and the hand trigger is a “must” for every painter! Little pricey, but hopefully will be worth it. The umbrella feels and looks like new!! Highly recommend!!

Amazing coverage
I had an old green awning that was supposed to be thrown away. When I looked at replacement costs, I decided to keep it. It sat in my backyard for over a year, until I got this idea to paint it. I used 2 cans and didn’t spray the inside of it. Outdoor fabric is tough to paint so if you have a larger project consider that you will need quite a few cans. I really needed 2 more cans to spray inside. Great product. It has endured very heavy rain and no color loss has occurred. No color transfer onto my pink colored house either.
