Easiest A/C fix ever
As many other reviewers have mentioned, this is an easy fix and a common part that “wears out” over time, and we will talk about that further down in the review. As for the product, it is top notch. It works perfectly and I have zero complaints. Just as a note for those who may be a little confused about the branding. GE=genteq=capcom. They are all the same company, just different names. Take a pastor you get may be labeled capcom..and that’s ok. All of them are high-quality replacements from the same manufacturer. As for the replacement, it’s pretty simple. There are tons of YouTube videos out there showing how to do it, so I’ll touch on a few key points:1. Always always always make sure the power is off and the capacitor is discharged before you touch anything. If you do not know how to use a voltmeter to make sure there is no residual electricity, you should not be doing this. You can get a cheap meter from the local hardware store for less than 10 bucks. Once again, youtube university will show you how to use it.2. Someone mentioned in here that the new capacitor takes “5 minutes to charge”. That isn’t correct, but there is a five minute delay when you first power on the system. This is to keep you from accidentally blowing up the compressor. It is supposed to do this. It has nothing to do with the capacitor.3. Take pictures of the existing setup before taking wires off. Take multiple pictures and note what color is where. If you screwed up and can’t figure out what goes where, the terminals on the capacitor are labeled as follows. “C” is common (your power source—There may be two leads on this terminal). “HERM” Is the compressor. “FAN” is the fan that blows air through the coils on the outside unit.Good luck and be careful!

I know exactly nothing about A/Cs.
I know literally nothing about A/Cs. Never even touched our unit in the 4 years we've lived in our house. But, my husband was gone for a few weeks during the hottest part of the summer and the A/C decided to die a quick death. Between YouTube and Amazon I was able to diagnose the issue quickly, order this for a great price, and get here in just under two days. I had it installed and blowing cold air in under 15 minutes. It's been running essentially non-stop for about a month now and it's doing great, so it gets 5 stars from me.

Replaces my 2010 of the Same Make and Model
Easy to install if you have some knowledge. If you do not or don't want to meet your maker, get a pro. This is a repair that can slap the soul right out of your body.Make sure all power to the unit is off and pay attention to how the wires connect to the old one. Must be exact. Do not cross touch or you can get a good zap old or new one.Hvac shop will charge 100 plus for this. I will update when I have longevity info. So far so good!

I will assume you know what you’re doing
I’m not an ac man but have a working knowledge of electricity. Be cautious and shut off all power. The old capacitor may have a charge still even after power is off so use pliers with rubber insulation or some kind of insulation. Take pictures and remember wire placement. Don’t mess with anything else. Once you get the new capacitor it may take 5 min or so to build a charge. Be patient and work safe. If it still doesn’t work you may need to call a pro.

97F9834 A/C Capacitor - DIY and save $$$
Just what I needed for my 18 yr old A/C Unit. Old original capacitor went bad. No cold air, fan blade not turning, and compressor trying but not able to turn on. Had to suffer through a couple of hot nights before it came through the mail. Did the work myself and saved hundreds of $$$. Make sure you do your HOMEWORK & be comfortable about doing this yourself before attempting. 97F9834 capacitor was installed over a month ago, and so far, so good. As a side note you will notice your fan blade on your a/c unit will spin faster, and the air blowing from your vents will be Colder than it was before the capacitor finally quit. God bless you & Good luck-

Once you get the new capacitor it may take 5 min or so to build a charge.
I would like to thank Moorebilly59's review of "Once you get the new capacitor it may take 5 min or so to build a charge." I bought a none OEM one since it would arrive sooner at my home. However, the issue with capacitor was not known to let the capacitor build a charge up.

Perfect replacment
Have only been using it about a month, so far so good.Installed, double checked the wiring, fired it up and all is well. I took a picture with my phone of the wiring before I disconnected the original capacitor and that worked out great for me.
