Clean smell, gentle on skin
This is an excellent bar soap. I've been trying out a variety of bar soaps to find the most natural and gentle soap that's good for my skin, and I think this is it. I've looked for natural bar soaps that use essential oils and natural ingredients with no chemicals or byproducts, and that don't leave residue. Some natural soaps are just too strong and contain too many oils, and I found that those soaps caused breakouts and left my skin feeling burdened and icky. Not so with this soap. It does leave my skin a little dry like a Castile soap, but my skin feels smooth and soft, not sticky with residue. The scent is divine and it took me some time to get used to it because it is a little strong, but it smells wonderfully clean and light, not thick and cloying. I also use robathol oil help with the dryness or occasionally some gel cream lotion. I am very pleased with this soap and will continue to use it.

Love the scent and natural ingredients!
I love this soap for so many reasons. Firstly, the ingredients are very natural compared to most of the soap bars found in local retailers. Secondly, they are incredibly affordable. I buy the ten packs for around $18 bucks, which is a great price compared to the $6+/bar I've spent previously for natural soaps. Thirdly, I LOVE the scent and it seems to linger a little longer than others. It reminds me of incense. Additionally, I love the size of the bars. They are neither too big nor too small. This soap is gentle and doesn't irritate skin, not even my kiddos who have more sensitive skin. It lathers well and doesn't dry out our skin. I have been using this soap for about 2-3 years now and have no desire to ever switch. I also love Chandrika's sandlewood scented soaps, but those are harder to find and more expensive. I hope they never stop producing these or change the ingredients. They are perfect!

80s generic soap scent
Does not smell like incense. Smells like generic liquid soap you would find in all public bathrooms in the 80s and 90s haha. And that isn’t bad. I remember some bar soaps that were white smelling like this Chandrika soap. So if you expecting some sort of hippie spa experience, you should let that expectation go. It is July 2025 and I received small rectangle green bars. I like the vintage appearance they have on my sink vanity. Some people say the smell is strong. While the scent has a throw that is stronger than American drug store bar soaps, the scent isn’t too overpowering. I like to put bar soaps in my vanity drawers and in my closet to scent my clothes. Since this is not a scent I want my clothes to smell like, I won’t be doing that. The scent isn’t too bad for washing hands and showering. I will try it on my whole face and body. So far I only washed my hands with it and it lathers nice and rinses clean. I had bought the soap years ago from a health food store, I remember my husband mentioning he liked it. He had brought up a soap I had bought years ago that smelled like incense, I could not recall what it was. I thought this might be it but it isn’t. If you are expecting something you want to scent your clothes with my putting in frees or closets, you might be disappointed. But it isn’t bad for what it is: a vintage generic soap that has Indian lettering on it so that’s kind of cool. If you are in public elementary school in the 80s in the USA, it might remind you of the school’s bathroom soap haha, which could be good or bad.

The BEST affordable natural soap with great aroma
It's natural soap, so no sodium laurel sulphates, no endocrine disruption, no petroleum based detergents. This is the good stuff right here, wonderful aroma, gets you clean, and is quite reasonably priced. Simple fact of the matter is this is my favorite soap, I've been buying it for years, I straight up love this stuff. Great Soap!

REAL SOAP THAT WORKS
This is my first time bathing with Chandrika soaps. Ever since I saw the popular reviews, I've wanted to try them. I thought the bars were pretty small, but at least I can open up a new bar of soap fast. I, also like others, like the high amount of lather - feels like i'm really cleaning myself. I bought it because it has natural ayurvedic herbs that actually do something such as taking away & keeping off bugs & bacteria & sweat & heavy body odor off of your body, unlike the mass commercial soaps which just "hide" your odor under synthetic fragrant chemicals which do nothing to take them off or keep them off.. Also, the smell is very nice with that sandalwood fragrance. For the hair, I use tea tree oil shampoo, although if you used this soap, it probably would do just as good a job!I also thought the soap size was pretty small, about the size of a child's palm. But it turned out I liked it that way. I took it with me by mistake (it was in my handbag), but it was fortuitous that it was also so small & light to be portable. The public restroom I used in a cafe ran out of soap, so I used this soap and it left my hands fragrant and clean. I take it with me now wherever I go.
