All drum sticks are NOT the same! For the last 10-15 years, I have been using multi-bagged, no name sticks. They are cheaper and last just as long or longer than name brands. I now use drummers gloves(again), and after asking a lady at church if she could sew some places up for me on my gloves; she gave me a $25 gift card for Amazon to buy another pair of gloves. I did and also bought this pair of sticks with leftover money. Good sticks, I have to say! I have played with nearly every name brand stick that has been available since the 70's, when sticks were CHEAP! But now it's generic baby! But these are good sticks. I prefer nylon tip over wood tip any day. They last longer and I prefer the crispier higher pitched sound from nylon tips over wood's more dull sound. Nylon tip is the way to go. plus I prefer a thick shaft all the way up to nearly the tip before they taper to a smaller diameter. These have a good thickness nearly to the tip as I prefer. I have used Quantum 3000's, and man those are like "tree-trunks" compared to these here. The older you get, the less intense you play I guess.LOL! Not me,though, I'm 53 yrs old and play drums in my church, and we are Apostolic/Pentecostal and if any of you know anything about Pentecostal churches; some songs, we throw down baby! None of this quiet and reserved playing like many denominational churches; and some even without drums! Imagine that! Praising the Lord without drums! Well anyway, these are good sticks. Would I ever buy anymore? Yes, if I was given another gift card, or if someone bought them for me. I will never pay this kind of price out of my own pocket. Remember I said, generic sticks baby! Play for Jesus!

I have owned, played (and broken) a ton of drumsticks over the years I have played drums. Drumsticks can be an inspiration and a motivation towards personal excellence and satisfaction. Once in a while, I find a pair that kicks my simple drum style into a new dimension. And these are it, Pro Mark's Forward 5a sticks are sheer energy and magic in a drumstick for me. A delight to play, fast, light with a reservoir of power waiting to be tapped. I have pushed them like the primitive rock player I can be and painted gentle cymbal textures with them. Glad I have these nylon tip drum sticks on hand for when I play acoustic drums. I've been using 747 sticks for decades. However, I am not crazy about the Forward weighting of this specific design. They probably will serve me well when I need to punish acoustic drums heads and cymbals, but they are for sure noticeably heavier in front than my standard 747 models. I will be careful to select the standard 747 models in the future for most of my drumming applications.

I've been using 5A Hickory drum sticks - nylon tip - for practice/rehearsal since joining a rock band with friends in middle school in 1973. I learned jazz drumming as a kid, and was used to 7A and even 11A (lighter sticks) for performance. I found the 5As perfect for practice, especially because anything you can do fast on the drums - fill-ins, etc, cymbal play - you can do faster with 7As (in performance). It's like using a weighted bat for practice and a regulation weight bat for games. Anyway, so I found a deal on these Pro Mark Hickory 7As and grabbed it, thanks to Amazon. I needed them for practice as my old 5As are my original pair, from 1973, and are cracked and aged. And I'm in another rock band, with friends/neighbors, Dadd Co., like in my teen years. And, frankly, playing a lot of the same music!

I read the reviews on these drumsticks before I purchased them. I read that the color and other things don't match. Of course they don't or wouldn't. Their made out of wood and a very fine hickory I may add. To me the look of the stick isn't important, it's the weight and feel as you hold them and then the sound you hear after striking a drum or cymbal as it resonance. That's the most important thing to myself and the type of music you play. As far as I'm concerned ProMark sticks play the best each and every time. And I've been playing off and on for a long time. And continue to buy them in the future.

Unlike other brands, the nylon tip if bigger. That's why I only reorder this model when needed.

These are some of the best sticks on the market. They are well balanced and take a beating. The nylon tips give a crisp sound.
