We designed, hammered and swirled 12 gauge copper wire to handmake this Celtic knot inspired shawl pin or hair pin. We smoothed all the edges so that it will not catch on your shawl. The pin measures about 1 3/4-2 1/8" (4.5-5.3cm) long and about 1 5/8- 2"(4.2 - 5.1cm) across the widest part. The stick pin part with the spiral on top that slips through the main design to secure the pin is about 2 3/4 - 3 1/4" (7 - 8.2cm) long. You can gently bend the outer edges of the main piece to create a looser or tighter fit with the pin. Every item is handmade by us so there are some slight variations in size which is why we give the range of sizes the item will be. If you need it to be an exact size please contact us and we can make sure it is the size you need. It is helpful to pull out a ruler when you read the measurements so that you can get a true sense of size since it's often hard to tell just from photos. This is a small sized pin and works well in your hair if you are only using it on a small amount of hair like when you pull the front pieces back like I did in the last picture. It is often hard to know if a hair accessory will work well for your particular type of hair without trying it on first. It can be worn as a sweater brooch too! This pin would work best on a knit or crocheted open weave type garment and is not intended for tightly woven cloth fabric. All our jewelry comes wrapped in colorful tissue paper, in a nice gift box and tied with a bow ready for gift giving. The pin in the pictures is a representative pin and not the exact same one that you will receive. We hand make each pin and try hard to make them look the same. There may be some minor differences but the one you will receive will look very similar to the one you see in the pictures. The copper wire used in this pin is in it's natural form and not treated with a lacquer or wax. Copper naturally oxides over time and develops a patina.

Beautiful gift
I am a knitter, and I bought this as a shawl pin to go with a gift. It is beautiful. I love the design, workmanship, and color. This is the third item I have bought from Nicholas and Felice. Lovely Piece of Useful, Wearable Art
Lovely pin - gorgeous color that darkens slightly with time. Perfect size for a shorter person to wear as a shawl pin or on the open front sweaters currently all the rage. I really like that I can adjust the grip as I tend to move quickly and have lost similar pins. Coming back for another as I gave my first one away to an admirer. I also have a larger silver one by this talented couple, and also love it. Highly recommend.

Pretty small for the price.
Thought I had finally found a solution to clip my thick hair. This pin is beautiful, but much smaller than I expected.

Simple but Beautiful
I cant say enough about how pleased I am with this shawl pin. It was shipped very quickly (I ordered it on March 13th and it arrived today on the 15th here in OH) and it came very nicely packaged. This is not a big pin; mine personally is about 2 inches at the widest point and the pin itself is around 2.5 inches. It looks huge in the pictures (to me at least) so I was really glad that it was smaller than what I thought it would be originally. I cant wait to use it with my crochet cowl!
