Silhouette PEN-HOLDER2-3T Pen Holder

I bought this a few weeks ago and absolutely love it. I have tested it with thin markers, standard ballpoint pens, Pilot G2 pens (they have a rubber grip), and even a standard Sharpie. The holder comes with three different chucks, for lack of a better word, in small, medium, and large. You slip the pen into the appropriately-sized chuck, slide the pen into the holder until it touches the cap on the other end, then screw it in. When you screw it in, the 'fingers' tighten around the pen for stability. Insert into the machine's tool holder and sketch away! I use this to draw my standard bullet journal pages then glue-stick the pages into the journal. They come out perfect every time. If you're using multiple colors it is a bit tedious to remove the tool, unscrew the chuck, remove pen, insert next pen and align, secure chuck, and reinsert into the machine. That's not such a big deal when you consider you can use almost any pen of any size and you're not locked into using the stubby pens that Silhouette sells. The Silhouette pens are definitely easier to swap out - remove color A, insert color B - but I'm not sure how much ink is really in those and when you consider that you can buy a box of 60 stick pens for $5 from Amazon and the Silhouette sketch pens are a little over $1 each (based on MSRP of $19.99 for the 18-pen starter pack) it's a no-brainer that this accessory will pay for itself pretty easily.

Good purchase. The smallest size works with a standard Pilot stick pen, if that helps anyone decide. The BPS Fine made a beautiful, even, thin line. A Sharpie will start to go into the largest barrel, but it will not write because the tip of the marker won't go far enough down. These are good for what they're designed to do. You do not want to lose the tiny cap that sets the pen depth. My Silhouette is a Cameo 2.

It works with my silhouette Cameo 4, it fits with the blue insert. I have to learn how to work with the different sizes and shapes of the pens I have but I did try all of the different sizes and shapes and they all fit in the insert. I have to learn the correct placement of the pens due to different length on the tips. My microns have longer tips then the regular Bic, pentel, paper mate, and uni ball pens. All very different shapes and sizes yet they all fit, just have to figure out the correct placement of the pens but the adapter absolutely works, I recommend it.

First, I have to say that I love how Silhouette has thought of an affordable way to let creators use their own pens with the machine, rather than trying to force people to buy their pens. It works very well for the function it was intended. I tested it with some Crayola markers and the results were great. There are only a couple small things that keep me from giving a full 5 stars. 1. The cap doesn't stay on by itself. It's very loose, so gravity alone will cause the cap to come off. The cap is necessary for gauging how far to slide in the pen, so having something so small that is prone to falling off getting lost could become a problem later. It would be great if the cap clicked into place so that it doesn't fall off on its own. 2. The instructions are on the back of the package which has to be cut open to access the tools. It would be nice to be able to keep the instructions, so that's not ideal. A little container or even plastic baggie to keep everything together (including a little separate instruction sheet) would be awesome. (Also since as in note 1, I don't want to lose the cap, so some sort of container or bag is important. My fix was to carefully cut the package open at the bottom, keeping the English instructions in tact, then sliding everything into a sandwich baggie of my own. Just keep these little quirks in mind and this will be a very useful tool for your Silhouette Cameo 4.
