Auto Ventshade[AVS] Hoodflector / Hood Shield | Fits 2015 - 2022 Chevrolet Colorado, 1 pc. | Dark Smoke - 21554

I searched around and decided on the AVS Hood Deflector (PN 21554) for my 2017 Chevy Colorado. Although there were tons on the market that are probably better, I liked this one in particular because of its low profile, and what appeared to be easy installation. It arrived promptly, and last Saturday I installed it in about 30 minutes (taking my time). The instructions are pretty complete, plus there is video on YouTube that shows installation. The only issue I ran into was that the holes did not line up with a good location for screwing into the hood. So, I simply taped off the deflector where I wanted the screws to go (without harming the finish), drilled new holes, added the plastic bushings, and it worked just fine. I'm very pleased with my purchase, and, by looking at the photo, I think you'll see that it doesn't look half bad.

This is the second AVS Hood Shield I've bought, first one was a great addition that saved the front edge of my '04 Canyon hood from damage during many years of driving. This one fits perfect, took +/- 20 minutes to install. Some reviews are critical of the screws being used to secure the shade, I was aware of the use of screws from the previous one, doesn't bother me. The only downside was the instructions. They are a simple printed sheet with very crude drawings that are nearly impossible to figure out. It wouldn't take any effort to print clear and CORRECT drawings so that everyone could understand them. Bottom line is the shade looks great and will probably perform flawlessly like the first one I bought

I purchased this as NOT to drill into the hood of a new colorado z71 and when i received it a different # was in box# 25054 that states on line no drill. But it is. So i assume AVS member lund group is switching numbers DO NOT ORDER UNLESS YOU WANT TO DRILL INTO YOUR NEW TRUCK Download instal instructions. Step 9 install screws

1. Came damaged. Both box and item was damaged.2. States does not require drilling. If you stretch the point, the description is correct in that it uses "self tapping screws". Seems kinda misleading.3. When it was dry fitted, it became obvious that this would not work with this vehicle. The tabs on the shade overlaps a ridge on the underside of the hood and if you were to place a screw there, it would probably crack the shade since the area of the hood is not flat.4. Sent back today and will look for another brand that does not require making holes in my truck.

I bought this bug shield for my 2016 Colorado. I broke my Weather Shield bug guard accidentally. Si I decided to try this AVS one, big mistake. The two end bracket screws did not screw into the tack welded nuts on the bracket. No matter what I tried I could not get them in, looked to me as the welded nuts were not properly aligned. Luckily I saved the brackets from my Weather Shield bug guard and got it installed. Pay this kind of money for a shield and then have to jury rig it to work properly is not good. This not only makes my truck look better, but it protects the hood and windshield. Easy to install. Although it does require you to screw in 2 self-tapping screws into the hood. Super easy to do. I added a couple of extra rubber bump stops to prevent any possible contact with the hood while driving at speed or in windy conditions. I love it.

Take the extra time to position the Hoodflector correctly. I used a small 3/32 drill bit for the 3 holes under the hood. The hood clips come with a protective film. Be sure to position the film correctly. Under the hood there is a small bead of assembly adhesive. It clearly reads to trim away enough for the clips to slide through and fasten. I used a small amount of Vaseline to help them slide on easily. A slight amount of adjustment and it fits and looks great!

The included directions are awful. The 2 end clips are impossible to figure out in which direction they go. The holes on the deflector did not align well. The edges of the deflector were way too far away from the hood. I re-drilled new holes that brought the ends in closer. You have to drill holes into the underside of the hood to attach the included screws. The adhesive strips are useless as they do not align with any flat surface of the hood. With some work during the installation the defector looks good and appears to be secure.

I don’t like the idea of drilling holes in my truck especially when you can see this item will not fit without a bunch of playing with things that should be taken into consideration by the manufacturer. I expect a bit of fiddling around but this is to much and the product was not what I saw online. Yes I received it quickly and scratch free but now I’m sending it back will spend a little more and get something with less trouble.

Easy to install at a great price...fit well on my vehicle.
