Twenty years ago this was a very different trench coat.
I bought this trench coat to replace the one I wore as a young professional twenty years ago, and that I've put on just enough weight to not be able to wear. I sort of wondered how they cost about the same after so much time.Well, this new "Iconic" is just that, a symbol of the real thing. My original was made of cotton and polyester and in the U.S.A. It had a tough but still sort of natural feel to it; like I was wearing something substantial and quality. This coat is has a creepy pure synthetic feel. It looks like a trench coat, but it doesn't feel like one, and it is no comparison to my older one that is now about two sizes to small for me.So, I'm returning this. I either need to lose some weight or buy a much more expensive coat from a different manufacturer, or maybe buy a used one off an auction site.

Very surprised!
This raincoat is classic and cool and you cannot beat the price. I had been looking at Burberry and other pricey ($2000 bucks!) raincoats, and then I saw this one at Amazon. I remembered my musician Dad had a London Fog he wore for years to gigs and I always thought he looked cool in it. So I got one and it's great. The zip in/out lining makes it toasty warm, too. It's well-made and fits perfectly. I am very happy with it and I can be a real snob about clothing.

fantastic coat; note caveats
I love, and recommend, this coat. It is well made and fits as advertised (a little large). As several other reviews mention, it is designed to fit over a suit; I wear a 40R (UK) perfectly, and this 38R fits generously over my suit--even with the liner.Too bad it is made in China, but I guess you can't get away from that anymore. Two caveats:1. The color IS AS ADVERTISED--at least the coat that I received. I wanted the darker green-brown highlighted in the customer review "Great coat, but the picture depicting the color of "British Khaki" is wrong. Buy the coat anyway!" The coat that I received was EXACTLY what was advertised, exactly what the gentleman in the MIDDLE of the picture, not the left, wore. I would call this coyote brown or dark tan. Nonetheless, I like it.2. The belt, as others have mentioned, is basically only cosmetic. It is functional, but so lightly constructed as to not retain its sturdy shape...and it takes a minute to buckle. I just took it off.

Truly Iconic
Almost 30 years ago my parents gave me a trench coat for my Birthday. That coat has seen me through good times and bad. I live in Canada, I’ve worn it in all types of weather, used it as a pillow, blanket, and even a tent. Sadly my coat has seen better days. So a long hunt for a replacement began. For years I could only find these narrow waist, upper thigh length, poor excuses for a REAL trench coat. Then one day, Amazon advertised an ‘Iconic ‘ trench coat. I was shocked. It looked close. Maybe it would be the same. I received the package reasonably fast, and prepared myself for abject disappointment. From the first touch of the fabric I knew I had made the right decision. I unfolded a brand new trench coat that while differing in colour, resembled my old coat. I put it on and felt the familiar fit and feel I have been accustomed to. I can’t thank London Fog enough for returning to a tried and true style, nor can I thank Amazon enough for facilitating the purchase.

Mystery color CHINO is actually light khaki (tan), NOT light gray
My first trench coat. Will need to buy smaller size and other color. The mysterious color called CHINO in this case is a light khaki (tan). Unfortunately, the color on my pc monitor shows CHINO is light gray.I am 170-175lbs, 5'10". Broad shoulders, trim athletic build. I normally order suit size 42R slim or 40R depending on maker. This coat is 1.5 sizes too big for me in the shoulders. From epaulet end to epaulet end LFog's 40R measures 23 inches. The epaulets fall off my shoulders. Too roomy at waist.Overall length is 46.5 inches and sleeves fall to my finger knuckles. Getting my suits' sleeves shortened and waist taken in is the norm for me, so this would not be an issue. Shoulders, however are non-negotiable. I should have ordered 38R.Fabric feels nice. Construction is top notch.Yes, the colored collar detaches (unbuttons), leaving a slightly smaller second collar underneath made of the same color and fabric as the coat.Overall, this is a great coat. Get the shoulder size right, get the color you want, get it tailored at sleeves, waist, and length, and you will ROCK RAINY DAYS!

Much nicer than expected (and "black" is actually charcoal gray).
Geez, this is MUCH nicer than I expected after reading some other reviews assailing London Fog for a supposed decline in quality over the years. I was expecting something that looked cheap, shiny, and synthetic but since I'm retired now and only have to wear clothing like this for weddings and funerals, I figured I could live with that. Why spend $1,000 on a Burberry trenchcoat that might not even be worn once a year? My days of having to get all spiffed up for the office are in the past, thankfully. So when my $170 London Fog trenchcoat arrived, I was quite pleasantly surprised. It's a nice, substantial, non-shiny fabric that looks like it should cost at least double what it did. And even better, "black" is actually much closer to a heathery dark charcoal gray.Terrific value!

London Fog for a great price!
This is a classic London Fog trench coat at an incredible price. It has a zip-in & zip-out liner so I can wear it back East, or leave it out for typical California days. It even has a button on winter collar to make chilly trips more comfortable. I got the green color which goes well with most of my clothes, and the coat has a timeless style that will serve me many years.I consider this Amazon purchase to be a real FIND, and I am very pleased with the coat!

GREAT COAT
BECAUSE IT IS DOUBLE BREASTED I ORDERED THIS COAT IN A NAVY BLUE 46 REGULAR, WHICH IS ONE SIZE LARGER THAN I NORMALLY WEAR. IT WAS TOO LARGE ON ME. I RETURNED IT WITH NO PROBLEM. I THEN ORDERED THE COAT THE NAVY BLUE COAT IN A SIZE 44 REGULAR, WHICH IS MY USUAL SIZE. I AM VERY PLEASE WITH THE SECOND COAT. IT IS WELL MADE FROM GOOD QUALITY MATERIAL. THE SIZE 44 COAT FITS WELL. THE COAT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. I WAS EXPECTING TO PAY MUCH MORE FOR A COAT OF THIS QUALITY.

Perfect fit, excellent coat.
This coat is excellent, as one would expect from London Fog. The sole reason it lost one star was that the buckle on the belt (made of plastic, where it ought to be metal) was broken on arrival. Since you don't actually USE the buckle, it's not that big of a deal to me, but it's a cheapness on an otherwise excellent product that cost it a 5 star review.

Great for the price!
It's a great coat that fits well, but its just a little tight around the shoulders. I'm 5'7 and 180 pounds, I do a lot of heavy lifting due to work so I might be a little broad shouldered but I think it has more to do with the angle of cut for for the arm sleeves on the coat as they connect with the torso piece, but in all honesty I did expect this as it's clearly shown in the pictures for the coat itself (reaching straight out arms extended or straight up causes tightness in the shoulders and a pulling of the sleeves). It reaches down to my shins which I find very nice, it's super warm with the removable quilted inner lining, has deep side pockets and a nice left breast inner pocket.I don't like how cheap the buckles are, flimsy plastic for the belt and wrists, but I don't really need to adjust anything with the wrists it's more to do with the belt that my concerns lay. The belt holes are so far in! What's up with that? There aren't any belt holes on the belt near the end, why?!

Wonderful coat, loose buttons.
A wonderful coat. Warm and waterproof. The material is a very fine corduroy. As other reviewers have noted, the buttons are not stitched on very well which is a shame. Unrelated to the garment itself, It's very strange how there is such a price discrepancy between the various sizes.

The size indicated is bang on.
I'm 6'2" and weigh 240 lbs, I ordered the 50 inch chest and I'm finally happy with the fit. I don't think I'll ever order another Chinese made piece of clothing. It's always too small. London Fog makes great trench coats, this one is no exception. I highly recommend it.
