can I put 2 of these on one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom to turn on some strip LED lights?

Yes, set up a two way switch. The issue is that when you walk by the first one it will turn it on and when you walk by the second one it will turn it off. Good if you want that but not if you want the light to stay on when exit the stairs.
