Works Great
My Trex deck is only about a year and a half old but it gets used hard. This spring when cleaning it I had a hard time getting it clean. I tried scrubbing, outdoor cleaners, and pressure washing it. All three methods looked good while wet but then dried to still looking dirty and worn. Then I found this product. My deck looks better than new. It brought back the nice dark color and covered what I thought was dirt and grime. The best part is it helps prevent new messes dirty paw prints and shoe marks hardly show up and are easy to clean if they do. Right now I am unsure about the durability and longevity of the sealer but even if I have to do it once a year it was so easy to apply I will be happy to.Update* I still like the product and applied it again this year. The only thing I will complain about is longevity. I have pretty heavy use on my deck. This lasted about half the season maybe a little longer.

Easy to Apply
I did a fair amount of research and this DEFY stuff kept coming up as the best so I decide to try it. Lots of prep time so I wanted to put down the best. This is a 20 year old original and never sealed Gray Treks Deck. It is 12' x 30' or 360 sq. ft.The stated coverage per container of 300 sq. ft. was the minimum so I bought 2 thinking it was more than enough. I was a little concerned as I started because the deck was taking quite a bit but I had enough to do 2 coats.Pictures are as follows: 1st was deck prepared, 2nd shows there was a distinction after applying & drying, 3rd was the pad & tray I used to apply, 4th is showing a little more than 1/2 of the 2nd. jug left after 1st coat and last picture is deck after 2nd coat. I have a small amount left. There were no overlap marks.I did have to do in-between the boards with a brush which was time consuming and tiring but necessary. The rest was done with the pad and was easy. The second coat obviously much easier and the coating went a much longer way.So my planks were fairly rough or porous which is why I did a second coat and I'm pleased with how it looks.I'm giving 5 stars for ease of application and looks and will return to review its durability at a later date.4-10-21It's Spring 2021. Our deck is on the North side of our house and after the fall & winter there is always significant mold & mildew especially nearest the house. This year there is none so this product works. I think prep is very important so I was diligent about this because I wanted to give it the best chance to work. It's said it will last a couple years so we'll see how it looks in Spring 2022. Right now I'm thrilled I don't have to power wash it.

Significant Improvement, but Issues
Applied this product per package instructions on 20+ year old composite decking which had badly faded with age. Went on easily (deck was pressure washed before hand, and dried out for more than a week), and covered a lot of area. It truly renewed the look; went from faded, flat, and washed out to something with some shine and renewed deeper colors. The "grain" of the product also looks much better. Overall I was impressed at this point. However two issues arose later which lowered the overall rating. First, in continued direct sunlight, even in moderate temperatures (Pacific Northwest), the deck feels slight tacky/sticky. It appears to be completely temperature related since it does not occur in cooler weather. Perhaps I was too liberal in applying it? Not a deal breaker, and after a couple of months I think the tackiness is somewhat reduced. We'll see how it is next summer.Second strange result: before application, water on the deck just disappeared, probably absorbed by the decking or something. Now it beads up (a good thing, I think?) and sort of puddles. BUT, as the little puddles sit, the liquid becomes sort of milky. When the water is nearly all evaporated you can still see hazy white residue where the little puddles were previously. This residue too disappears some hours later when the deck has really dried out. Looks like something is going on, but it does eventually disappear, so not a deal breaker.Overall we are glad we used this because the decking just looks waaay better. With cooler weather the tackiness is gone; have to wait until next summer to see if it becomes an issue again. The milky residue issue also seems to be diminished, and while unsightly while things are drying out, it does eventually disappear.

Works great on composite Deck.
works as indicated. Goes on evenly. Clear. Water resistent. Was a bit sticky for 24 hrs.

Worth the Money so Far.
Used this on a 10 year old composite deck and it made a world of difference. It brought the color and detail back to life. I would recommend this product and when needed wouldn’t hesitate to use again. Just recently used so not sure how long it lasts or when it would need another application.

Extreme version but better than regular?
I have used this extreme version several times, as well as the regular sealer. Honestly, I don't see much difference in the endurance.I wish the composite stayed the same color as it is when the sealer is first applied. Unfortunately, any color restoration disappears when the product completely dries. It does not improve the appearance of any color fading. The Defy sealer does seal the decking, as you can see the water bead up after it cures. The most difficult part of the process is the cleaning and scrubbing. The sealer is quick and easy to apply.Buying this product is not any less expensive than buying products to maintain a wooden deck.If somebody tells you that composite decking is easier to maintain than wood, don't believe them. Composite is still a lot of work and annual maintenance.
