I used this in conjunction with Norton Commander for DOS to back up data from a vintage PC that didn't have a working disk drive. It worked great and got me out of a pinch!

I bought this so one PC-based device could control another via serial port (yup, welcome to the 1990's!). It worked for this low-tech application. By my measurement here is the pin wiring. Pins 1, 5, and 9 are wired straight through. Pin 6 is open circuit. Pins 2 and 3 are cross-wired, as are pins 7 and 8.Who knows why the seller description blabs on and on about HDMI and display port. This cable has nothing to do with video!

Plugged this into my Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5 running Windows 11 and it automatically installed the necessary drivers. I've used it several times for troubleshooting ancient SUN servers and have had no issues whatsoever. It gets bonus points for it being 10' long.

These work fine for when I need to get into a physical appliance in a data center that has crashed. I plug this in and then launch hyper terminal (you can use the XP version on Windows 7) set the speed/baud rate, etc. and reconfigure if necessary. These appliances just periodically lose their configurations and you have to get a minimal config on them in order to put the backup of the configuration back on them.
