Good dash cam at this price point
Small dash cam with a lot of features. Good videos during the day, but blurry recording at night-time.Pros:-- It is hard to find another dash cam with so many features--GPS, parking monitor, wifi, etc--at this price point ($40).-- Good daytime video recording. You can see the license plates.-- Very low profile dash cam that doesn't attract attention. It is a very small dash cam--even smaller than those wedge-shaped ones. It can be placed on the rear window (windshield) without obstructing your view from your rearview mirror--at least not too much. In that regard, you don't need a dual channel, front and rear dash cam system. You can just use this as a separate rear window cam.-- Compatible with 24mm magnetic CPL filters to filter out the glare and reflections. It fits right onto the lens without having to do any modification yourself.Cons:-- Poor and grainy videos at night. You can't even read the license plate of the car right in front of you even with your car's headlights on-- whether your car is moving or not. I have tested a number of dash cams. Too bad, even with the Sony IMX322 sensor, it doesn't do any better than its competitors.-- Overexposure with the camera's default setting. Compared to other dash cams, videos are very bright especially when the camera is recording facing the sun. But unlike night-time recording, this problem can be remedied by resetting the Exposure Compensation setting. I find -2/3 useful.-- You would most likely have to buy a long cable (micro USB) or at least an extension cable if you have to place the cam on the rear window. The cable that comes with the charger would not be long enough to run through the headliners all the way back to the 12V socket on the car's front panel.Conclusion. If you use this dash cam mostly for daytime recording, I'd say it is a very good one at this price point ($40). But it could be a deal breaker if you need it for night-time recording.
