Works, and works well.
I've been playing drums for a long, long time, but I've always struggled with tuning and tuning quickly. The tune bot made this process almost foolproof. It has a lot of features that I haven't even explored yet, so that's why the ease of use is 4 stars--it's not hard to use, but there is a lot that you can do with it, so you do need to sit down and work through the features and use the websites or the app to figure it all out. You also might need to do a little math to dial in your specific setup.BUT, I'm sure this gets easier over time, and the results have been absolutely worth it. I didn't want to admit I needed to spend this much money to make my kit sound good. But, it doesn't just sound good, it sounds great, and I feel confident about the sound. The only hiccup was with tuning the snare, and that was a little odd. It just seemed to have some difficulty with some of the lug resonances on the snare head. I did take the snare off when I tuned it, but my snare has just always been a little hard to tune. That's part of why I wanted to get this gadget. But I've read that some other folks seemed to have a similar issue on the resonant head of the snare--it almost seemed like, on the higher tensions, that there were times when it just read the tension wrong, like 100 off, but I knew it was obviosly not the low reading that came up. I could dial up, and then suddenly, over a certain tension the reading just dipped by, like, 100 points. That didn't make sense. So, I kind of went with it and used my ear a bit, and I got them in line together. Overall the sound is still superior to any tuning I've done in the past. The sound of the bass drum is also much better after applying the tune bot formulas and getting real readings. I love being able to get nice intervals between my toms. The bot can save settings too, and it can adjust for multiple setups. I haven't even gotten into any of that yet. Probably one could get away with the basic bot instead of the studio. But, it didn't seem like the 20 buck different between the two was enough to get the lesser tool. Others may have a better idea of that, since I've never played with the regular tune bot.Great tool, I wish I hadn't waited to get it.

The beat of a different drum!
This is a high tech, high-quality tool!! You can pool 10 different drummers on where each drum should be tuned, and you will receive basically the same answer from all "it's what you sound you like."This Tune-bot helps to identify at what frequency (note) the drum is tuned. Once that is established, you can adjust the individual lugs so that they all match each other. Veteran drummers may not need this, but for an amateur, this was very helpful in finding a starting point. When the time comes to replace the heads, they can be tuned to exactly where you like them thanks to a couple of button presses that allow you to store the frequency (note) that you like. Each drum is assigned a number, and a corresponding value.Great product; great price.

Very useful for every drummer
Very nice tool to repeat tunings. Simple interface, great screen. Nice built quality and materials. Comes with a carrying case, with foam to protect the tuner.

USE THE APP IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE BOT!!!
Once you get past the learning curve this thing is awesome. It took me a steady 24 hours of on again and off again work to figure it out. I was almost ready to return it because of the crazy fluctuations. And what I found out was that a lot of people have problems firguring this thing out.I was getting CRAZY fluctuations. I was looking up message boards, youtube videos, etc. No one seemed to have any answers, just more questions. Even the instruction manual sucks. I mean IT SUCKS!!!Then I decided to use my ole' brain for something other than a hat rack. Instead of leaving the bot in one position on the drum, I decided to move the bot from lug to lug for the tuning and BAM!!! That was it. The first tom took me over 3 hours to tune with this thing. In the end, I did the snare drum in less than 10 minutes. Here is what I discovered as the best way to use this crazy little bot.Tuning is a 2 part process for sure. The app AND the Bot.First off---download the app. If you do nothing else, download the app. Use the app to enter info about which drum you are tuning. Size, drum type, what resonance you want etc. The app will tell you what Hz to get your lugs to for top and bottom. Then use that info and shift to the bot on the drum for the rest.On your drum, loosen all of your lugs. Then use your fingers to get them just to where they begin to tighten. Set up the bot right in between 2 lugs. Tap the drum head with your drumstick about an inch from the rim on each lug beside the bot. Get your reading. Tighten both lugs a little. Then move bot across the drum to the opposite set of lugs. Set it up in between both lugs. Tap the drum head with your drumstick about an inch from the rim. Get your reading. Tighten both lugs a little. Then move bot between another set of lugs. Continue this process working your way around the drum head. You will slowly get it in tune.If you use the bot WITH the app in this manner you will have a very easy time tuning. My drums have never sounded better. Hopefully, what I learned and put here will help you and keep you from spending 24 hours + trying to figure this thing out.If they put a couple more paragraphs in the instructions it would save a lot of time and headaches for folks.
