Safe for plants and garden my flowers like it. Works works works. worth the smell
The instructions were clear and the product was easy to apply. It even water proofed the water color kids paint I used to do the stencil design and it has been pouring rain for daysYes it does have a strong smell like wine or something, but it smells way better than other brands. I was able to do a whole garden box bed and 4 other pieces of wood.I will see how it holds up through the season. You can mix a stain color with it and it goes on smooth. Don't forget to follow the instructions and wipe it after application or it will be stickyI would purchase again.update it lasted through winter and is still looking great.

Easy to apply. Looks great.
Great product. Treated western cedar. Applied with brush, Has very little odor, goes on easily and covers well. Takes a day to dry and a second coat is recommended. Don't know how well it will hold up to Iowa weather. I'll update as time go by.

Good, but room for improvement.
I bought a quart of this stuff to seal a trio of new medium-large cedar planter boxes (I'm not planting directly in them, but growing large plants within grow pots, so it's not quite as exposed to moisture as a raised bed would be). It's too soon to tell how well it holds up to the elements, but overall the application was smooth and the finish came out quite nice. I didn't add any tint, so it really just highlights the grain of the wood a bit and gives it a more polished look. I did two coats and ended up with a few ounces of the product left over.Application was easy. If you've ever used Rubio Monocoat it's pretty similar to that. I wiped up the excess after each coat, as directed, and didn't have any stickiness once it was dry.I took off one star for a couple of reasons.1. The scent. Other folks had mentioned in their reviews that it's got a very strong smell. What I didn't realize is that the smell is, almost certainly, an additive. It's vaguely tropical, but also smells very artificial, like a gas station piña colada air freshener. I wouldn't call it offensive, exactly, but I really wish it wasn't in there. I'm guessing the main ingredient of this product is linseed oil or another drying oil, and I find their natural odors much more appealing than this. It's cloying, and a tiny bit of it on clothing will stink up a room. The boxes are now outside in the fresh air, a few days later, and they still stink like the bargain bin of a Bath and Body Works.2. There's a lot of marketing copy hyping this product, but none of it seems to include a meaningful description of the actual ingredients. Maybe there's an SDS somewhere, but I dislike that the manufacturer seems to be hiding the ball as to what's in it. Different finishes work differently, as anyone who's ever finished wood knows, and having more info prior to application would be a sign of respect for the customer, in my opinion. It'd also better tell me if what I'm buying is actually a good deal.Despite the above, I took a chance on this stuff because it seemed well reviewed, was competitively priced, and touted as low VOC nontoxic. I'm happy with the results, but I can't say I'd be terribly inspired to buy it again unless the manufacturer addressed the above concerns.

Great Product for my Planter
I used this on a large chicken box which has been turned into a planter, the largest side is 4'. I bought the medium size bottle but could have just gotten the smallest one. It's very watery and was easy to use. I used a good Purdy paint brush and it may not be good for much now but it made the process very smooth with no splashes getting on me that I could see. The smell is intense but it's a sweet wine smell and it didn't make me feel sick and most chemical smells make me sick pretty quick. Your supposed to wipe the wood after applying to get rid of a stickly feeling but I didn't feel like it and saw other reviews that said they didn't think it was needed so I skipped that step. I waited several hours and touched it in a couple of places and it's not sticky at all. I used a large empty pumpkin puree can and it washed out fine. I also left quite a mess on a plastic table outside for several hours and had no problem wiping it off and it didn't hurt the plastic. The only thing I may not be able to use (except for future wood protecting projects) is the paint brush, but it was worth it to me to have a no mess application and not have bristles coming out everywhere.

Great product!
Picked this product for my new raised garden bed because of great reviews and “food safe” product for planting vegetables. Applied easily with a with 4” roller, went on great! Follow instructions to wipe off excess after instructed time. Has a citrus orangey smell. Smell is strong but goes away after a while. Make sure you use drop cloth when painting because it does stain. Recommend painting outside.

Raises the look and durability of a raised bed!
This stuff is amazing! Take a look at my before and after on a new raised bed. When applying, it has a semi-strong smell but it is a sweet, plant-based smell, not a chemical smell. I will have to report back if the smell lingers or not but either way it won’t be a bother. I hope this lasts a decade as described!

Perfect for raised garden beds
I searched for a good garden bed sealer and went with this one since it was food contact safe. We plan on using some wooden garden beds this year for veggies and wanted to be sure nothing horrible contaminated the soil. My first order had some issues but customer service with this company is top notch! Jenny was amazing on making sure I had all issues resolved and I’m so thankful for a company who actually responds and makes things right, which is REALLY hard to find. The sealant is super easy to use (I used a sprayer) and dried really fast. Luckily we’ve had some nice breezes to help. The smell is very sweet and strong, so I would recommend a mask. I was able to put on 2 coats with a day of drying time between as directed but honestly I don’t think it takes that long to dry under the right conditions. It gave the wood some life and I’m loving it! The price seems to be fair especially for it being food grade safe. Would def recommend and purchase again!
