Special need

I use these mainly for my work where many papers have to be sorted into separate bundles. Once the papers have reached their destination the bands are no longer required. These bands are fine for this short-term purpose. I did use some for my own personal use though, just archiving separate bundles of work for storage in a large pile. After around six months I found that every rubber band had broken and I had to carefully extricate the bundles to avoid mix-up. So: short-term use, great; long-term use, rubbish.

They are just the right size for fitting on National Bee brood combs to hold wild built combs in place when setting swarm/colony into a brood box. Another use is for eliminating potential wasp colonies at a stroke by cutting through a band and using the extended rubber to smack wasp queens while they are foraging on flowers or stripping wood to make their nests, that way no poisons are used which can kill bees.

GOOD: Very cheap. Excellent value for temporary use or sending stuff though the post.BAD: degrades much more quickly than most bands when exposed to sunlight, and if left too long, even in relatively low lgiht conditions, can turn into a sticky mess before drying out into brittle fragments.

The last bands were from a different manufacturer and supplier and were 1/3 more expensive than these, they broke easily due to being cut ragged, by which I mean the edges looked serrated.These No. 34 High Quality Rubber Bands 500g Box 101.6 x 3.2mm are cheaper and yet are higher quality and don't break. I'm pleased that these are perfect bands and get 5***** from me.

Really happy with these rubber bands. I wanted thick, strong ones and these really fit the bill. My OH uses them to fix bin liners in place in our B&B's guest bedrooms but I also use them to keep my notebook strapped closed in my bag, plus I can also hook a pen to it so it's always to hand.
