5th-8th century. Bronze, 1" height, originally plated. Equilateral rectangular beams reinforced at the junction. Each beam with a central incised line and central saltire. The back hollowed for inclusion of a sacred relic, the hair of a saint, splinter of the cross or similar. Light wear from its time of use, probably from handling in prayer. Resilvered with modern silver neck chain.
