Make Way for Ducklings 75th Anniversary Edition

One of the best and recyclable books ever written.
I am now 78 , when I was three or four my mother, a teacher loved it, and bought and read it to me. Now we were from Boston so it kind of fit. When I was a little older I read it to myself several times. The same for my younger sister. Now a friend of mine ' s granddaughter will be getting this 75th aniversary copy with the map and cd for her 5th birthday. She loves books, especially her"nite nite" books and I can not wait to see her reaction, and hear about yours. A kind traffic cop, and a mother duck, and her babies trying to walk across traffic to get to the famous Public Gardens, how can you go wrong? Hope you love it.

Family centered and very sweet.
Excellent, excellent book. Very sweet. My two year old daughter sat through the book happily, and said it was “really sweet,” and now has been toting a duckling around, making “nests” for it. The story line is just the kind of thing I want for a young child. Family-centered but not over-idyllic (Mr. Mallard has to go and look for new places, and Mrs. Mallard is competent while he’s away, but they reunite at the end,) and also teaches respect for public places, the need for parks and green spaces, and the potential for quality, gentle law enforcement. I especially liked how Mrs. Mallard was portrayed as a great mother. This is a gentle, sweet book, with fantastic, funny illustrations. I love it.

A must have book in any child's library
This is a classic book, I read this story to my grandkids who are all adults now and have ordered this as a Christmas gift for my great grandchildren. This is a sweet true story and if you ever go to Boston be sure to check out the park where you will find statues of the mama and her babies. Can't remember the name of the park but it is near where they used to film Cheers. Also, I have a tattered and worn copy I keep in my library at home - just a heartwarming story that we need to hear these days.

Cover is defective
I just received the 75th anniversary edition of this classic story. The book comes with a gold embossed emblem sticker indicating that it's a Caldecott Medal recipient. The sticker is placed upside down, and it cannot be removed without damaging the cover. Considering that this is a ‘special’ edition, it’s disappointing to gift this item in this condition. I give the story 5 stars, but the product as provided by Amazon & Viking books 1 star.

Check to make sure the book has the CD with it next time
I gave it as a gift and it was supposed to have a CD of the book with it but the person I gave it to said it did not have one, so we both were disappointed. As for the book itself, she wants another one.

Classic that fits our times
This classic book delights a new generation without the gore of some of our old favorite tales. Warm and uplifting.

Map makes the extra cost worth it
This version of one of the most fun and heartwarming children's books comes with a great map. I saw it in a local children's bookstore and had to have it for my home! It is beautifully illustrated (both the book and the map). Definitely worth the extra investment if you love the book, Boston, or maps!

Perfect
If you're looking at this at all you probably already know that the books of Robert McCloskey have thrilled generations of children. Their gentle, humorous stories are the perfect antidote to the noise & mindless commotion of modern life. There is beautiful artwork, pleasant characters, a little stress & a happy conclusion. This book along with "Blueberries for Sal" are my personal favourites & cannot be recommended too highly.
