Q: will this work for bed bugs?

Yes it will kill bedbugs but it takes time. The way this product works is you dust an area where they may be, around beds and walls and even electrical sockets. The bedbugs will walk through this and get it onto thier exoskeleton. This product will absorb water and dehydrate them. They will also bring their dust covered bodies back to the nests and get the dust on others. This is no quick fix! So it will take time and patience to get them. Best if used with a steam cleaner as this kills them instantly (should you find a nest). Steam all nooks and crannies, even things you might think is too small.

Yes, I use diatomaceous on my pets (cats, dogs) occasionally. If I'm treating my dogs and cats with a topical flea and tick treatments, I do not put the diatomaceous on them. I put diatomaceous earth on their beds and bedding. On carpet, wood flooring, bathroom and kitchen floors if needed, in and around the kitty liter box. Patio areas, garage floor, areas where they eat, on the dirt and lawn areas if I'm not going to be watering any time soon. Be careful when applying, take your time. Diatomaceous earth is very helpful.

Q: This is ok around animals right?

My vet told me not to apply it on the cats because it gets into their lung through breathing. Diatomaceous Earth is siliceous sedimentary rock reduced to powder, as such is an abrasive, it kill insects that repeatedly walk on it buy sanding and slashing their exoskeletons. So if apply to animals can damage their lungs in the same manner. I used in my garage after Flea treatment, but I vacuumed thoroughly before letting my pets inside the premises. I also use it in flower beds but don't let cat in the area till after the rain disperse the powder.
