A versatile camera.
I wanted a camera that would give me a clear picture when attaching my 5th wheel to the hitch. My bed cover blocks my view, and I do not always have someone to give directions. I simply place it on the underside of my kingpin, looking forward to the truck, and I have a set of "eyes" showing me what I need to do. The ability to flip and mirror the image is very handy and has made connecting to the RV a breeze. When I am setting up or taking down alone, I use the camera to look at the levelers so that I know when I am on or off as needed. I generally just set the camera on the ground so that I can see. I also wanted a camera that would allow us to keep an eye on our dogs when we are away from the RV. This camera can connect to a router and then be accessed from anywhere. The picture is very clear, and the wide angle of view is great for what I use. The night vision is better than I expected. The ability to set it up pretty much anywhere is handy and I have used it for various tasks like being able to see the bolt that I can get to an angle to see in tight spots. The base attaches easily and comes off quickly if I don't need it. The bolt on the camera body would loosen and spin if I tightened the base too much. The bolt would eventually not tighten at all, and the base would not hold the camera in place at any angle. I took a bit of epoxy and glued the nut in place, and it worked like a charm. I made sure not to get any in the camera so that I can still take it apart to change the rechargeable battery. This is a very handy camera with many applications. The customer service has been great as well. My first one malfunctioned, and they sent a new one quickly with a label for the broken one. No hassle at all. I have contacted them with questions and suggestions, and they are received well and answered quickly.I have been asked about this by other RVers and they are very interested in this for themselves. I recommend this camera.

Finally can see the horse in my trailer
This little camera worked great for monitoring horses in the trailer when hauling them. It is rather small but has a strong magnet that allows you to mount it where you need it and move it if you need to. The picture quality is adequate though it is a bit slow and has slight hesitation at times. It’s clearly older technology. But it works! I am in a Suburban pulling a 2 horse with a dressing room. The signal reaches from behind the front of the trailer and the dressing room wall to the front seat of the Suburban. I stream directly to an ipad mounted in the car. Only lost picture briefly a couple of times on a 4 hour trip but it recovered quickly. The antenna screwed into the back can be a bit clumsy when mounting it close to a wall but there is a antenna extension with a long cable available from Swift Hitch if you want to mount it outside. I made due. Battery life is supposed to be 5 hours but I just hardwired it to the lights in the trailer with the supplied cable which came with no connectors as shown in the picture….just bare wire and it is very thin gauge. That was a bit of a challenge because of the thin wires but I made it work. Would give it 5 stars if they upgraded the technology can went up a gauge or 3 on the wires but it works for this application. Nice design otherwise and it works.

Portable, flexible hitch camera
When I received this SH04 product from Amazon, it was missing the charger. I contacted Swift Hitch and they quickly responded and sent me the missing parts. Customer service was excellent. The camera is very solid and heavy, made out of thick metal. The body is a little over an inch square by 3.5 inches long excluding the wifi antenna and base. The base is magnetic with two screw holes and has a swivel joint so it can be angled up and down and rotated even if when mounted permanently using the supplied screws. Your mobile device, iPhone or Android, is the display using the Swift Hitch app. It connects to the camera via wifi. For mobile use, the camera generates it's own wifi signal to broadcast the video. Otherwise you can connect the camera to your existing wifi to view the video anywhere within your signal range or anywhere in the world. I haven't tried viewing the video remotely, but only within my existing wifi or with the camera's wifi. These two modes were easy enough to set up and the picture is clear and sharp, the picture resolution being 640 x 480. The camera has infrared LED's to illuminate the area up to 6 ft when it's dark. If turned on, the lights will automatically turn off if there is enough ambient light and turn on again when it's dark. Otherwise you can keep them off all the time. The camera has audio as well as video, but in my case whenever I turned on the audio I get static noise no matter how quiet the area is.Pros: The camera is solid, well made, and water resistant. It has a clear picture and is versatile in how it can be used. There are many options for motion detection, alerts, and remote viewing which I haven't explored. The wifi signal it generates is very strong and has a range similar to my router. The heavy and magnetic base makes it convenient to temporarily place the unit in strategic locations for backup viewing, especially when you are by yourself without someone to guide you. It's great in situations where precision is needed, such as trailer hook up. The fact that it has a built in battery which lasts for up to 5 hours gives it great flexibility in positioning without any power lines.Cons: The unit is large enough to be easily visible, and since it looks expensive and is, it may be stolen if left outdoors unattended. The set up, although easy, has too many steps for a backup camera in a regular car. I really don't need the audio but it seems to have a bug with too much static. In summary, this camera is designed for use in backing up a trailer or vehicle with a hitch and I can recommend it for that purpose. I cannot recommend it as an ordinary backup camera since there are better and cheaper solutions for that.

I really wanted to like this product
The media could not be loaded. I really wanted to like this product, It is packaged nicely and set up is easy but all that means nothing is the video is not smooth.I tested this cam with different viewing phones, tablets, and iPads, all had the same result you only will get up to 10,Max frames per second and most times it is around 5-7. this makes for a very choppy video. and for this price point it should be way better than it was. It really is to bad because it is a great looking product, but totally not useable in my option...
