Pretty cool, I like it and it has a web interface accessible from my desktop or my phone
Previously I was using a 4x2 HDMI matrix switch but needed more outputs for future additions. Something that I especially like is that when I select a different output/input combination is that the ONLY output that blanks out is the output being switched. All the other outputs remain on supplying video from whatever input they are selected to. My old switch would blank out everything while it was switching and the old switch took as much as 10-12 seconds to switch. That was a pain. This switch switches in a couple of seconds. It was easy to configure. Rather than having to change my computer IP address to connect to it's web interface I used the front panel menu to switch it into DHCP and rebooted it to grab an IP address from my router. After finding it in my router I was able to logon to the matrix switch with my web browser. It has a nice web interface for configuring the switch including setting up EDID if needed and establishing defaults relationships between inputs and outputs and if desired configuring multiple input/output combinations that can be selected remotely or from the front panel. All-in-all I'm satisfied. I'm revisiting this to say that I really like using the web interface to remote control my 4x4 switch. This is a great convenience. You can also see at a glance which outputs and inputs have live connections and see which is lined up to which output The web interface also allows you to control the onboard audio outputs, control the EDID configuration, he network IP configuration and system o reset the system password, reboot the switch. I think too the firmware is able to be updated as well. I just found that J-Tech has an Android app to remote control their products. I installed this from the Play Store and It works great. It's even easier to use than just launching the web interface from my phone because the web interface from the phone has way more controls and you might need to expand the display size with the pinch zoom. This Android app is much clearer to utilize. You can name the inputs and outputs, they you just touch the name of the output you want to switch then he app pops up a menu listing the names of your inputs to select from. Really slick and easy. Update: The more I use this matrix switch the more I like it. It's a great convenience being able to switch it from an app on my mobile phone. On the other hand I cannot say the remote included with it is any good. It has to be pointed directly at the sensor to get it to receive the signal. My phone on the other hand because the switch is connected to my home network via Ethernet cable can be switched from anywhere in the house. Again all-in-all I'm very satisfied.

An absolutely perfect means of switching digital optical inputs
Firstly, Amazon screwed up the first time and sent the wrong item - a similar switch from another supplier that cost about a third less, and worked only about a third as well. Sometimes it takes using an inferior product to recognize the incredible value of a quality item. I've used J-Tech products before and have always been impressed by the overall quality of manufacture. The J-Tech 4x2 matrix SPDIF TOSLINK switch might look like similar, less-expensive items, but it's much better built. The housing is very durable and the electronics are well-constructed. In contrast, the other switch had a cheap metal housing and some of the TOSLINK jacks actually physically disappeared inside the device when trying to connect an optical cable to them. Those jacks were evidently soldered directly to a circuit board without any physical support to hold them in place. In contrast, the J-Tech components are solid and reliable in use. In terms of functionality, the J-Tech switch functions very well and it's easy to use. The remote control works well but not at a distance, which is my only complaint. Selection of inputs for each of the two outputs is easy, and I like that they're independent of each other. That way, one can even have the same input connected simultaneously to both outputs if desired. Sound quality is excellent, as would be expected with digital signals. Overall, this is an excellent device.

Solid Product from a very good seller
This little Optical Audio Switcher (I have the 4x2 model) is excellent. It's built well, and it's the second J-Tech product I have purchased (the other is an HDMI/Audio Extractor) that simply works...so I now have added J-Tech to a small group of outstanding sellers here at Amazon. The only issue, as stated in other reviews, is that the small remote control has very little range. It must be pointed EXACTLY at the IR receiver on the switcher, and it looks like the range is only about 6' at best. So, keep this in mind if you normally are seated more than 6' away. However, if you plan to or already use a universal remote control that can "learn" from the supplied remote, this completely solves the problem. I have programed a simple Harmony remote (the J-Tech switcher IR codes are in it's data base), as well as a complex URC remote (which easily learned from the supplied remote), and both remotes control the J-Tech switcher from across the room (about 20'). The use of a universal remote brings up a separate issue for me...it's that the switcher only has a "Power Toggle" button (same button turns it on and off). This is typical for this type of product, so I don't hold it against J-Tech. However, if anyone has ever tried to program a universal remote control, you know that any device that does NOT having discrete "Power On" and "Power Off" commands can get out of sync when using macros (press a single button on the remote, and the TV, Receiver, Cable Box, Audio Switcher, etc. all turn on and switch to the appropriate input...press another button and everything turns off). For any product that only has a "power toggle," the only sure-fire solution is to keep that device always turned on. I have asked J-Tech if it's ok to keep the Audio Switcher powered on all the time, and I'm waiting for their reply. The bottom line is that this is a solid device that works as advertised.

Good construction, excellent function
I'm using this with two sources, digital audio out from a TV and digital audio extracted from an AppleTV 4K, and two outputs, a DAC and a wireless headphone. Both outputs are active simultaneously and can be used with the same or different sources. The remote works well and includes a power button and 4 source buttons for each of the two outputs. With 96 kHz 24 bit lossless format audio from the AppleTV 4K, I can't hear a difference between connection through the splitter or direct. This is a high quality device at a good price.

Great product so far, i am using multiple tv's with different resolutions and all are remote to the switch with a Cat 6 extender between matrix and the tv. This unit handles the EDID functions flawlessly and also has a great web page for setup and switching capability. The only two things that would be a fantastic add are a switchable audible beep when you are switching inputs and outputs, it helps to ensure the matrix actually received the remote input with audible response. The second would be to have a matrix page which has the user defined naming convention on that page, to help with switching via the remote page. 4 stars so far.

I was looking for a way to feed multiple toslink inputs into my receiver as one mixed signal. This product indicated that it was a "true matrix", i.e. capable of feeding any input to any output. It failed to mention that it acted only as a spliter, with no mixing capacity. If you're looking for a versatile spliter with a a ir remote this product will be perfect for you. It has excellent build quality, no noticeable sound degradation, and a handy LED indicators for active channels.

Well made product, nevertheless, the remote didn't work in my case. I was using the product to connect audio from my various devices, e.g., TV to my Bose soundbar and my hearing aid streamer. In my case, I need a reliable remote to switch between audio inputs without having to walk over to the unit to manually change input or turn the unit off/on. A reliable working remote is what was missing in my case.
