I wanted to get an Egg cooker which can cook eggs faster especially during the early morning hours when I prepping to go to office. Pros: 1) Fast cooking - It takes ~14 mins to get the eggs ready which I pack and take it to my office. Really good option to make your high protein breakfast. 2) Easy to use product 3) Metal Body - I didn't want a plastic egg cooker from health perspective so this was really a good option. 4) Looks sleek and good. It is smaller that the perception the image creates. 5) Easy to peel eggs Cons: 1) No beep or alarm to inform when the eggs are done. I just leave them for 20-25 mins, it automatically shuts off after done and then I pack the eggs while leaving from home for the office. No issues for me.

First, it is actually quite small and attractive. So, ignore the photos. Second, I am a bit of a prima donna about my eggs... so I am used to a couple of steps for achieving perfect eggs. These steps may or may not suit you, and should inform your decision to get this or not. If you want the shells to come off easily - every time - and you want the yolks to be yellow, without any gray - then the best thing to do is have a bowl of water in the fridge (set it in there the night before). AS SOON AS the eggs are done, take a pair of tongs and put the eggs into the chilled water. Put the bowl of chillin' eggs back in the fridge. When you get back from the pool or golf course, take the eggs out of the water and put them into a dry bowl (or back in the carton, or into an egg tray &tc. So far, you might be thinking this is all pretty reasonable. There's just one more catch. THIS UNIT HAS NO BELL TO LET YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS FINISHED!! This is actually no big deal, because you and I want perfect eggs. And to get perfect eggs, you set a timer. I set my phone timer to 5:45 (five minutes, forty-five seconds). When the alarm goes off - the eggs go to their waiting ice bath. If you don't use a timer, you would have to stare at the 'on' light until it goes out. Not my idea of fun. Alternatively, you just wander back to the unit whenever the mood strikes you... but you will probably be greeted by seriously overdone eggs. The unit is all stainless steel - so cleaning is a breeze. Since water sits right on the hot-plate base, the hot-plate surface gets a bit discolored during cooking. This mostly comes off the same way they clean the grill surface at a hibachi steak house: damp cloth. Since it is stainless, anything that doesn't come right off can be removed with a scratchy pad. I usually cook 7 at a time, but I have cooked as few as 2... all with great success. The manufacturer should put an alarm on this unit... it is a ridiculous oversight since it would cost pennies. Still, I love not having to deal with setting up a steamer on the stove.

Although nice in appearance this is horrible in function. The egg shell piercer on the bottom of the water cup is a nail head. This wouldn't be so bad except it has sloping sides that force the egg shell, once pierced, outward. This cracks the shell. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The case design is open. The exterior has many holes and vents on its bottom, conveniently not pictured in photos... So you can't wash it. Well, guess what? When an egg shell is cracked, and its egg is cooked, it makes a mess. But in this case, you can't clean it up because you run the risk of short circuiting the electronics inside due to a vented design. The instructions even say that you shouldn't wash it... I'm just wondering if the engineers of this has ever had a broken egg in their kitchen that they had to allow to rot...hope your nose doesn't work very well... When shells are cracked, and eggs leak, everything gets cemented together. Lid. Eggs. Egg Tray. Base. Countertop. Its reminiscent of that scene in ALIENS when they enter the egg chamber...Except you don't get to die, you get to deal with messy eggs and an eternally foul smell. The water trough is not deep enough. Water boils over every time. So, you never get enough steam to cook your eggs. As a result you get direct heat on your eggs rather than steam, and your eggs get unevenly cooked, that is, what remained in the cracked shell. The power button turns on but DOES NOT TURN OFF. Add boiling over water to an open case containing an electrical circuit, and egg that can act as fuel... Can anyone say FIRE HAZARD?!?! Seriously this is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Class Action, anyone?!?!

So far, the best egg steamer (cooker) I have ever used. We used egg steamer a lot in Asia 220v area, and I got use to the quick simple and quite design there. I had a cheaper one after we moved back to USA. But that one was loud, and often under cooked the eegs. Love this one because: 1) All stainless steel, no plastic part that contact the food 2) Quiet - I don't mind no alarm as no body is willing to take 20 mins to cook an egg. When the light is off, it is ready. Auto shut off function makes me worry free. When time is close to 10-15 mins, I just check it out. 3) Compact I have not had any chance to clean it yet as I only used it for two days. So far so good, all perfectly cooked eggs.

A very nice packaging and ease of use.

First, no sound when the cooking is done. It wish it at least beeps. This is bad because if you don't remove the eggs immediately after it is done, the egg is over cooked. So it is hard to get correct doneness without monitoring the cooker continously. Second, the egg doesn't stand straight throughout the cooking. It tends to fall down a lot because the egg holder is not deep enough. Other than these two issues it is really good. It is fully metal unlike others and cooks well.
