MAY 2019 UPDATEOne of the two of these that I purchased quit working (less than 18 mos of use). The SunvalleyTek rep told me to send in the defective unit with the 32gb card for warranty replacement. What I got back was a new dash cam ex a 32gb card. Ever since then it has been a nightmare trying to get a replacement card sent.Taotronics used to be great when they were entering the USA market. Now that they have some market share, they are trash. Do not buy from them.UPDATE: I have been using two of these in each of my cars for about 8 months and have caught a countless number of near collisions and road ragers with them (still waiting for the errant meteor). Recently one of them started acting up. I called TaoTronics/SunValley and they did thorough diagnostic eval with me. When this didn't fix the issue, they offered several option under my warranty coverage, and ended up sending a replacement unit very promptly. I remain impressed with the product and the company.If you have any doubts on buying one, just do it. Friends don't let friends drive without dash cams...Did lots of dash cam research. Didn't want to: Spend a lot (first dash cam)/get GPS/ pay extra for an SD card. What moved me on the TaoTronics was that it also included 2 types of mount (and impt: you can rotate the cam 360 degrees; easily removed).The entire package is as good as it gets. Set up was easy, as was familiarization with operation and with recording. I set it to 2304x1296 res. Packaging is excellent/professional and the cam is small/discreet. Internal battery life is way better than most.Within first 4 minutes of installation I got a guy running through a red light into traffic. Rarely do I drive without the cam witnessing something awry.. There is a certain peace of mind you get knowing that you have a second set of "eyes" with you; never again will you have to say, "Did you see THAT?" I haven't viewed much playback on my PC yet, but when I do, I enjoy hearing my commentary on the idiot drivers. My advice to you: DO NOT drive without a dash cam. With this package available there is no excuse. My review is independent and real.Seller Customer Service/Support is exceptional. If you register your purchase with them your warranty is extended an additional 6 mos.

This is my 3rd attempt to buy a dash cam. The previous two were more expensive ($90, $100), but did not work as advertised. For example, the battery of Z-edge was supposed to last 25 minutes but did not even last 5 minutes. I like this one because everything works as advertised. It is also lightweight, so does not put a strain on the suction holder. I also like the fact that they supply both a suction cup and a sticky pad—very useful. There are a couple of small features I don’t like (e.g., the backlight stays on for 3 minutes for no apparent reason, and reflection from the dash gets in the way of clean recording sometimes) but I would still give 5 stars for this. So far so good.I liked the product, so bought a second unit. But the vendor apparently shipped a unit someone has returned. Packaging was off (e.g., the suction cup was dirty and the plastic cover was missing) and it looked like someone tried to poke holes on the sticky pad, etc.). So I returned the unit. Since I like the product, I plan to try one more time, and hope the vendor gets it right.Update: Vendor customer service contacted me and promised to send me a free replacement. Based on the great after-service, I change the rating back to 5 star.

Good: The resolution in the day time and night time is very good. Easy setup.Bad: During 40 non consecutive minutes of driving and 15 minutes of wire hiding, the camera had FIVE instances where it skipped recording in THREE minute blocks of time. Also it would record in 30 sec chunks randomly. You will not get complete coverage of your trips.UPDATE: Long story, the company Tao Tronics sent me an email asking how the camera was working with a list of recommended settings. So, got it out and double checked the settings, while doing that I accidentally pushed the reset button. Well, had it running in the house for about 45 min. and no breaks in coverage. I have had it in the back window of the car. After 4 days of driving to and from work, I have had no breaks in coverage. I have checked every day. If you have an issue with breaks in coverage push the reset button and check to see if it is recording correctly. I am happy now that it is working correctly.

Bought it about two months ago,The video quality is decent and it worked great for a month and a half during this Fall, it has not been subjected to any exceptional heat yet.Well we are already running into issue, when driving I noticed after starting up it apparently had shutdown at some point during the drive because the record light was not blinking. I turned the unit back on and it attempted a recovery which it says was successful but now the unit has started randomly rebooting at times. We installed the latest firmware update and the problem persists. Will be contacting the mfg in an attempt to resolve the issue.Update:After contacting them, they quickly replaced the unit. I hope this one lasts longer because prior to having issues it was working wonderfully. I'll update if there are additional issues.
