The RX400W is the next step in evolution for the RX series rear-view mirror DOD dashcam line up. This new model is the ultimate sleek and discrete dashcam design; disguising itself as a rear-view mirror and offering new features such as 10x speed GPS logging, and a rear-view back up camera integration (supported through wire connection only, back up camera not included) and also includes other features like the 1cm thin body, 70 degree adjustable camera angle and easy to install Velcro strap design.

Don't buy this model expecting to use the backup camera feature
It takes acceptable videos, and did surprisingly well at sunset driving into the sun and through late-day shadows. The firmware seems to be well-refined and stable, and the menu system isn't overly confusing. As a mirror, I like the larger reflective area and tinted finish during the day. I have NOT driven with it at night though, so I cannot comment on the camera's performance or if the lack of a flip-up lever to mask headlights in the mirror will cause problems yet.One of the selling features of this camera for me was the backup camera integration. After buying a rear license plate camera and wiring it up, I can report that the RX400W is essentially useless as a backup camera display. It is obvious that the reflection from the polished mirror surface will reflect any daylight, washing out the RX400W's LCD display to the point where you can't make out any details even on a cloudy day.As a side note, it works fine with an NTSC backup camera. A few units on the market don't support NTSC, so I'm including this here since none of the published online specs for this unit say whether the backup camera input is NTSC or PAL.If you're buying it, buy it for the camera. The built-in display is useless during the day, be it for the backup camera, seeing the recorded videos, or using the HUD speed display mode.....
