Go to finish
I’ve been using Rubio Monocoat regularly, and it has quickly become one of my go-to finishes. It’s easy to apply, dries quickly, and the walnut color gives wood a beautiful, natural look that really enhances the grain. The finish is durable and holds up well over time, which makes it great for both small projects and larger pieces. I also appreciate that it’s eco-friendly compared to traditional stains. A bit more expensive than some options, but the quality and results are worth it.

Quality, professional results!
If you follow the instructions, this is the best wood finish I have ever used, it’s beautiful, not shiny, very fast and easy to apply!

Quality finish
Never used Rubio' before but I like it very much. It is super easy to apply and clean up. There is almost no smell as well. You'll never get weird streaks or runs.Application:Wipe on using a plastic scraper, so the product spreads further. A little does go a long way. I used a white pad to hand rub the entire surface after. Seemed to work well and I got a smooth finish. Finish type is matte, I also used the sheen enhancer to bring it to a satin. Satin sheen is in the photo. Used on red cedar.Only bad thing is the cost, but it is worth it for that quality finish.Warning!!!! Due to it being an oil the product will spontaneously combust. Dispose of all rags/pads/etc the the proper manner.

WAY better than Polyurethane and No Fumes
I’m a novice woodworker at best, working out of an attached garage that doubles as my shop. Anytime I used stain or oil-based polyurethane, my family would immediately start complaining—the fumes always found their way into the house. This time, I decided to try Rubio Monocoat for the first time on a 9-foot desk I built for my office. I applied two coats, and let me tell you—virtually no smell. Maybe a light scent in the immediate area, but it was more like carnauba wax than chemicals. Most importantly, no complaints from the family.Application was super simple. I just used my DeWalt orbital sander to buff it into the surface, and it turned out great. I love how you can still feel the wood grain—that’s something you just don’t get with polyurethane, which basically covers your project in plastic. The look was amazing too. I went with "Pure," and it did not disappoint. The finish came out pretty natural but with a slightly wet look. See for yourself. The only real downside? The wait. You’ve got to let it cure for about a week before using the piece, and that was easily the hardest part.If I have any issues with this finish I'll come back to report but so far it's been a few weeks and I LOVE it.

Rubio monocoat is a quality product but is expensive
Quality product. Provides a great finish with a moderate amount of effort. Very expensive tho. The coverage entirely depends on the porosity of the wood you are finishing. Since I was using Western red cedar I used almost all of a 350ml can on the wood required for trim and casing of a single door opening.

Easy to use and looks good
We used this stain on church benches we were refinishing. It was easy to use and we were able to apply and wipe off in the recommended 3 minutes even on the very large surface of the bench backs and seats. We also chose to gently buff the application to take off the excess and ensure it had spread evenly. It absorbed evenly and looked very nice when dry. As with many stains, there was an odor for about a week until the stain had completely cured. But that is gone now and the benches are in use in the house. We are complete novices at woodworking and the stain still worked well for us. So we would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy to use stain for their wood project.

Great product
I would highly recommend this item. I have been doing many of the improvements and renovations in my home since I bought it a few years ago in the kitchen has been an ongoing project. We ended up doing butcher block countertops because of cost and ease of installation. We left them unprotected for a while and definitely encountered food and water stains but with a light sanding it was back to normal. We wanted lasting protection though and I came across this product that seemed like the best solution over any alternatives. I bought it and it sat around for a long time before I finally got around to applying it today. I have learned a lot up until then and have learned things that I did incorrectly and cannot change but I hope that this product still holds up well. What I didn’t do: apply the product to every side of the butcher block. (I installed the countertops before I realize this)I know it is highly recommended to apply to all sides of your project or there is a chance of warping but I am hoping that we do not have this issue.Besides that, I love the color. I used the color pure just to enhance the color and grain of the butcher block. The first picture is the before and the second picture is the after.I watched numerous videos before applying it to ensure that I use the correct technique and then followed along with a video while I was applying it and it overall went pretty well. I did have to have my husband help me and besides a small spill (lol) we got it applied quickly and now will wait for it to fully cure!
