This Circular Wireless Helical Axial Mode 5.8 GHz HELIAXIAL is a high gain, right hand circular polarized (RHCP) directional antenna, ideal for use with an FPV video receiver for achieving long ranges. With a minimum of 12dB of gain, this antenna combined with a Skew Planar Wheel Antenna in the video transmitter offers over 6 km of FPV range. Supplied with an SMA female connector, three different adapters are also included to allow different ways of connecting the antenna to the receiver at different angles. The reflector is 3mm aluminum, and antenna support structure is made of Plexiglas. The helix is made of enameled copper. The start of the helix runs parallel to the reflector: This is the impedance matching, and it has been adjusted manually for each individual antenna. This antenna features a huge bandwidth (as expected of a Helical; see reflection parameter chart). A Return Loss of less than 13dB is warranted across this frequency range, which means that >95% of the power is coupled to the antenna. Directivity: gain of 12.33dB, with a beamwidth of about 60 degrees (see directivity chart). Opposite polarization rejection (see copolar vs. crosspolar chart): This is especially important in circular polarization. Put simply: the difference between the copolar component (right hand circular in this case) and crosspolar component (left hand circular) is the attenuation of the captured reflected signal that we want to avoid to reduce multipath. In these antennas cross polar attenuation is greater than 10dB in all cases, which means that the reflected signal will reach the emitter attenuated at least 10dB with respect to the desired signal, which is great to prevent reflected signals from interfering with the direct signal during FPV.

The combination of this antenna and a Boscam Cloud antenna on the diversity receiver is by far the best I have tried
I have been experimenting with standard FPV for almost a year now. All testing is done using a Flysight 7" diversity monitor. The combination of this antenna and a Boscam Cloud Spirit antenna on the diversity receiver is by far the best I have tried. The cloud antenna gives me wide area but no so much range and the Heliaxial58 gives me more gain and longer range as long as I am pointed in the direction of my multicopter. I did not have a single glitch during the flight which is something I do not usually experience. My multicopter is equipped with a Boscam 32 channel 2 watt 5.8 GHz transmitter with a Cloud Spirit antenna. This makes a great combo. My test did not include flying behind large objects that are directly in the transmission path. I was flying at about 260 meters high and was still in visual range. Sorry I forgot to note the distance but it was getting difficult to see the UAV which was a TurboAce Matrix; so it is fairly large. In the past I have used the Cloud Antenna, Pole Antenna and the flat 14 db antenna. Not in the same ballpark. There are cheaper Heliaxial antennas but build quality is important. This one is quality.Steve GillUAVBLUE

The hype was true for once!
Ok, I read the hype and reluctantly bought two expecting to discount what others have said. I assumed as usual when it came to 5.8GHz fpv antennas if better it would be marginal or the same as other "high performance" antenna. I was wrong. Is it expensive compared to others yes, for what you get no.This is by far better than any other 5.8GHz antenna I have used for fpv. It is a directional antenna but on a diversity system I found my ground station refused to switch ta a YKS 14dbi gain panel antenna unless I went beyond 180-190 degrees, sometimes I had to go further. In short very impressive.Range was only 2-5% at max better, but video (signal) quality at max range was much better.

This antenna flat out ROCKS!
Purchased this antenna for my Boscam RX-LCD5802 Diversity monitor/receiver. The range I get is outstanding! I have a Boscam TS353 400mW transmitter on my hexacopter and I have been out as far as 1400 meters and the picture was still crisp and clear (Tx is outfitted with a BluBeam Ultra 3 lobe Airscrew antenna). A flexible/gooseneck SMA to SMA Extension Cable is a must have accessory when attaching this antenna to an LCD receiver like the Boscam. It allows you to position/point the antenna in any direction.

Beautiful gem of an antenna
This is like a little work of art. The craftsmanship is first rate. But better than that, it also works extremely well. I have a collection of 5.8 antennas and this is by far the best of the bunch. Works well on FPV goggles, and includes a short spacer to get it a little further from the goggle and allow room to get your fat fingers in to tighten the SMA connector. Hey, we already look dweebish enough when wearing our FPV goggles, but with this thing pointing out from them you can reach new heights of nerdishness. Just tell people it's a death ray.

A fantastic antenna for FPV
You really, REALLY need this for your FPV system. This antenna gives very good range. You will still need mostly line of sight available. But you can get a good signal over a very long range and a really broad angle of coverage. This is well made, comes with the connectors you are likely to need and is bound to be superior to most anything else you have used for your 5.8 GHz FPV monitor. Note that this is not for the transmitter!

Do yourself a favor and get it!
Love this Helical! I recently was flying around some trees and I was using a directional patch antenna but I was getting bad reception. To my surprise I swapped my directonal with this and the reception got so much better! Also good for long range! Can’t go wrong with this pick up!

This is great for long distance
This is great for long distance as long as your head is pointing at the unit flying. I had to get a swivel chair to turn with the quad as soon as it was behind me once I turned and was facing the quad I was able to go along distance away pretty nice.

This is an awesome antenna. Using it with my DJI Phantom
This is an awesome antenna. Using it with my DJI Phantom. I have a bluebeam airscrew on the Tx side and I have this Circular Wireless Heliaxial on the Rx side. This combo gave me extrelemly long range. I can now go farther than my transmitter can go with cristal clear picture the whole time. Excellent antenna!
