Made a Wonderful Gooseberry Fool
I used these canned gooseberries as a substitute for fresh in Mary Berry's Gooseberry Fool recipe. The fruit was plump and flavorful in a light syrup. I couldn't be more pleased with the result! My order arrived quickly, in time for a lovely holiday dinner. Happy to recommend!

I LOVE 'EM
My wife mad a pie with these gooseberries. Never had a gooseberry before. I loved it! My wife, not so much. They are tart and have an unusual background flavor. My wife's pie crust is so good (Crisco and lard) it makes any filling good. She uses tapioca and minimal sugar in thickening the sauce. Try them, give them a chance. The more I had of the pie, the more I liked it.Would be good in a crisp as well.

Dented cans, overpriced
It's really awful that these are so overpriced. Bought two cans and they were dented -- no package damage, so the cans were put in that way. Thankfully mine tasted OK and made a good pie. Others have said theirs didn't. Still was disappointed to pay $11 for a dented can.

I’ll buy these again.
Tasted right out of the can. Not nearly as “wow!” as I expected; not as bitter/sour/sweet.But I cooked with half a cup of sugar to make a very good jam - better than commercial jams. Much more gooseberry flavor. (How does that work?)I’ll buy these again.

alright for canned
Shipping was fast. The can was dented in at the bottom. This was in light syrup and was really sweet for my taste. Usually Gooseberries are tart. I added some sugar free frozen blackberries and raspberries to knock off the sweet taste. The can is only 15 oz so it only made 4 mini pies. For the price of about $10.00, it is not worth it. But looking around, this is the price for this item. Might as well wait to go to a market in season to purchase.

Goose-very Good Pie
This is my second year buying canned gooseberries for our "goosemas" goose-themed party. Everyone raved about the pie last year and we're hoping for another hit. Unfortunately, we had to buy 2 cans to fill a pie, but we also couldn't find any cheaper options.

just...not a great job.
I'm sure that at one point these gooseberries were tart, fresh and tasty, but this canning job left a lot to be desired. Off metallic taste, mushy berries, just not good. They should be safe to eat, best-by's far away, but this is not how to pack fruit. Pass.
