Really early days for a product such as this, as it is obviously a long term work tool. Price appeared good and delivery very fast. On arrival the leather looked average and thin. An application of good leather cream brought the colour to a consistent level and made the leather feel less like cardboard. After a couple of days that had soaked in and the leather looked and felt much better/stronger. An second application should consolidate that in a couple of weeks. (Recommend a good saddle cream). The paper in the folder takes a bit of getting used to, being thick with a rough finish. A good pen, mines a biro type, will be OK but will clog up with fine paper particles. If that becomes and problem, any A5 soft cover notebook will replace the original. It's rough finish makes your writing larger and clearer, so a plus point. I have adapted the long strap designed to wrap around the folder, as it would not stay in place. I undid the knot that held the strap in it's slot and had a loop stitched in the same place. That loop grips the strap and it now stays in place when being carried. It's a novel way to secure a book like this and I like it. All in all, its very early days but, for the price, this is a useful working tool. I use mine most days but will update my review in a couple of months. Good product for the price.

There is just something about this beautiful journal that makes me look forward to using it. The deep smell of real leather is very prominent, The texture is of a quality that you rarely see these days and I love the fact that you can just add a new notebook inside when you have filled one and it is standard A5 size so it is easy to find a replacement.I have always had a bit of a thing for beautifully bound, authentic leather journals and note books but am often afraid to use them without some clear or special occasion in case I fill them with gibberish or make ugly mistakes. There is no fear of this here as I can just replace the insides at any time.The pen holder and bookmark are an added bonus.the pen itself isn't quite as 'luxury' as they imply in the advert and my one tends to stutter and miss spots when I write with it but I didn't buy this for the pen and the holder fits most normal pens anyway.All in all, I am very happy with this purchase.

The buffalo leather is as described. No noticable leather smell could be good or bad depending on your prefrence. There is no "tag" as shown in the image on amazon but that was not a big issue for me. The A5 journal insert is of acceptable quality and the included pen is a nice writer for a ballpoint. The Journal was delivered in adequate packaging, and was in a simple but well made canvas bag cover. The tip regarding rubing/working the leather to reduce the appearance of stress lines or scratches doe work somewhat but only by reducing their appearance. However the slight scuff and stress marks that the journal picks up in use is rather the point with buffalo leather, it gets its own patina in use, giving it a unique character. Lastly I have given 4 stars rather than 5 as the price point is just a little high comparing similar journals. I am happy with my purchase as it is for my own use, as a gift I would prefer the buffalo hide tag to be included.

I was suspicious after reading the number of positive reviews of this notebook however because it was very cheap in comparison to some of the others available and definitely looked nice in the photos I figured it was worth it to buy it and see. I thought that if it turned out worse than promised I would not be out that much money. I have to say though it is phenomenal - it looks exactly like the photo which is unusual it has a nice feel to the leather and the pen inside is not a cheap plastic disposable its solid metal so it has weight to it to help with writing. This is amazing and for the price is well worth buying. I seen someone rate it one star as it was not in a bag and came in plastic however mine had both, it was inside a little cloth bag with some drying agent and that was sealed inside a plastic wrapper.Whatever the case, this is genuinely a great product and it lives up to its description.

This is a beautiful journal, which has been made with quality material. I've chosen to give it five stars because I honestly can't fault it, provided this is what you are searching for. I brought it because I wanted to get back into writing and opted for the non-lined notepad allowing me to draw / sketch images if I choose to. It's the perfect size to carry around with you, being A5. It comes with a decent quality pen and the notepad has a significant amount of sheets which would last a while. The cover and paper itself have a beautiful traditional charm to them, separating them from your modern journals. It may sound silly but this encourages you to want to write as it takes you back to traditional writing methods. So apologies for going on but it truly is a charming item and a must for enthusiastic writers. Well worth the money and is sturdy, will therefore last. Lastly, you can remove the notepad from the actual cover allowing you to refill without getting a whole new journal or replace it with a notepad of your choice. This won't be required though, as the notepad provided is lovely. If considering buying - Go for it! 😊

Bought for my husband to use as his journal for song writing. Great material very well made, nice thick pages. Highly recommend!
