Does this come with the spirit level shown in the picture?

Yes it does come with the spirit level which is great to keep the bar straight but I guess after a while of using it you get used to levelling without the need of spirit level. This is a great bar the best I have come across and I have had a few over the years.

My doorway is 714mm wide. Will this fit?

It will fit perfectly my door is 810mm wide and it fits no problem, as your door width is smaller it should give you even better fit than mine.

We live in a rental. I am really scared that this potentially leaves marks on the door frame or wall and I will lose my deposit. Any advice?

Yes, it probably will but you could put either a cloth or a wider piece of wood under the wall grips to reduce the impact but you may loose some grip, they're very good though.

Assembly instructions this bar doesn't stay up

When you mean does not stay up, are you using in between the door? Or between two walls? Are you making sure the bar is as tight as you can get on both sides. It should stay up because I have never had any issues with it staying at top of my door. Just make sure it is as tight between what ever you are using it, my one does push the door frame out a little bit which is going to happen if you want to be able to use it and for it to hold your weight.
