Dating Detox: 40 Days of Perfecting Love in an Imperfect World

I picked this up a year of so after a devastating breakup. God has used this time in my life to reveal how much I am worthy of love and how God continues to invite me to go deeper as he teaches me more about myself and how I can improve. As a marriage therapist, I work often with couples and families helping them to see their roles in a conflict. Relationships involve ourselves and others. The only control we have is on how we carry ourselves and make choices. This book does an excellent job explaining physical and emotional chastity especially as boundaries help us to stay healthy in mind, heart, and body. I have never appreciated single life so much as it is truly a beautiful time to grow! Though I was hesitant about this book being “stereotypical” on chastity, I was pleasantly surprised about the impact of this book and the dating fast on my life. 40 days gave me a new perspective, a new hope, and a new appreciation of love. Thank you for the gift this book was!

I needed this book and I believe it was The Holy Spirit who put it on my mind to get it because I heard about a while back. I been struggling in fighting my emotional needs and been sad to find the wrong guys for me. With this book I will have God’s wisdom to live my life with a better sense of my emotions for the need to have someone that I can love deeply and they can love me back deeply. I been used as a thing and Is because I have allow it but now I know better and I feel better about myself. This book brought my joy back and help heal (detox) and I will continue to walk this journey with Jesus and be in prayer. I desire to have a future family but only if is Gods will. A million thanks! I mentor junior and senior high school teens. I purchased the book after hearing Lisa Cotter speak at a LifeTeen Youth Conference. I thought the messages were great. I passed the book along to a young woman (age 22) who was struggling with dating issues and her Christian conscience. She found it to be very helpful in her quest to get back to her values, and passed the book along to her boyfriend. One year later they are still together and working to keep the relationship pure.

This book does a good job of challenging the way you think, as any good book should. I’m not catholic but I still strive to have a faith-based, Christ-centered relationship and this book does a wonderful job of focusing you on just that. 4 instead of 5 because I didn’t always feel like it was edited by enough people before going to print. I felt some of the thoughts were not as well refined or worded as sensitively as they should have been in regards to the subject matter.

This book helped transform my heart and gave me the motivation to wrestle with many wounds that I was too afraid to face before. I woke up every morning eager to read my next daily challenge and saw how these challenges helped shape the way I encountered people throughout my day. I am so grateful for this detox... these 40 days have helped give me the tools to heal and begin to rebuild the way I love myself, others, and God.

One of my friends had read this book and recommended it to me. Dating & sex is the #1 area in my faith that I struggle with the most, and this book really broke things down and challenged me to look at my habits and plan ahead for the future relationships I might have. The different testimony stories really helped me see that I'm not alone in this struggle​ and that it is possible to overcome bad habits and temptation. Awesome book!For those who are struggling to live chastity! For those who have emotional wounds from past relationships! For whoever wants to know God's will for love, dating, sex and marriage!It's a work book. To read, think, pray and change the way we deal with our relationships.It's easy to read and full of testimonies.I've started with a kindle sample and couldn't stop reading. It's worth it!

Great book for couples and all those who are dating! I highly recommend it

I felt this book was more directed to those who are new in their faith. I found the first few weeks to be a little bit disappointing and a bit redundant. I guess because for some reason, it doesn't apply to me as much. The last few weeks' reflections are very interesting though! Kevin and Lisa explained the topic very well and with a very practical advice as well. I found the later topics are deeper and not as much clarified elsewhere.
