Great for cleaning sofas and cushions
This little device really works well--VERY powerful suction. I use the strap and sling it over my left shoulder, then use my right hand to pass the upholstery tool over the sofa and cushions. It's great for cleaning up the hair my little dog leaves all over the place. Also, I don't have to lug my other bulky vac behind me (hate it when that beast gets hung up on the coffee table or tv stand) and it's quick and easy to take out of the closet and then put away. Note that this little vac is built like a tank, so is not super light. I'm a sturdy 6-footer, so no problem, but it may be a bit much for some people to sling over their shoulder.

Big Improvement over My Previous Oreck.
I knew I would like it, but actually I LOVE it. I have used Orecks for 20+ years and my 1990’s “little vac” needed replacing. I love the newer features that the old one didn’t have: the flexible hose, the hose locks into the vacuum, the ergonomic handle design is easier to hold and I think it’s even a bit lighter with more suction power. I’m not crazy about the wrap around cord storage on the bottom, that’s the only negative I can think of.

I am an Oreck fan and always will be...
I was hesitant to buy this Oreck due to some of the reviews and I have been debating whether to buy it or not for a while. I finally decided to go for it and to replace the one I used to have which is the older model of this one (aka the original). I have had my Oreck XL for years and before that I had another Oreck and just bought the XL to replace the older model. I have only owned 2 Oreck upright vacuums and now 2 Oreck handheld/compact. Oh and we owned years ago the carpet cleaner and 1 canister. And the reason we have replaced them in the past was to update the older versions but the vacuums always performed brilliantly. I used to drive about an hout to our closest Oreck store for regular maintenance every year but since that store closed we just learned how to maintain it ourselves and voila! it is good as new again. Anyway, back to the handheld I just received. It arrived intact and everything accounted for. I put it together quickly since the bag & filter were already setup before it arrived. It is quite easy to,basically, plug and play and start vacuuming. The vacuum sounds (as far as suction) as you'd expect any Oreck vacuum to sound - strong. The older version I used to own did not have the added tool holder that sits in the back. Also, the older version did not have an adjustable strap and rubber shoulder cushion. I really like these new improvements. It still includes many tools for many different tasks. However, another new and improved feature ,that the original did not have, is the adjustable telescopic extension wand. The original was just one long solid piece but this one isn't as solid (meaning it's lighter) but I realized it's because it has a large button you press to adjust to the desired lenght. I really like this new wand. It's definitely new and very useful. The original handheld vacuum was more square-ish and this one was updated to be semi square but sleeker. I haven't tried the blower part of it yet but I will at some point. Perhaps to blow out the fans, the back patio, etc. I can use it for indoors and also to vacuum my car outside since the cord is pretty long as long as I plug it in the garage. I am definitely an Oreck fan because even though they can be a bit loud (although I can see it has improved some based on this new one) I love love how they perform each task and how they're built to last. I am glad I purchased it.

Almost perfect!
This product is lightweight with a small footprint. It works well and is great for doing a quick vacuum of a hardwood floor. I use it mostly to pick up and stray cat litter that has tracked through my home. My only reason for knocking off a star is that the long plastic tube attachment disconnects very easily while vacuuming. I hold the tube where it attaches to try and prevent this but it is awkward and not foolproof. Otherwise, it is a great machine!

Nice products!
We've had an Oreck hand held for at least 25 years when finally had to go. It was making a hit pitched whine from the intake side that I could not get rid of- It was driving my border collie nuts and she wanted to attack it every time we touched it. Just the simple act of picking it up put her is a frenzy. We received this one and I unpacked it. Zero reaction from her. Plugged it in and started to use it. She was curious but no over reaction (no yapping/barking/attacking).It is light and easy to maneuver with great pick up power. Definite winner.Hope it lasts as long as the previous one.

Biggest Disappointment-Really Sucks ( And I don’t mean that in a positive way)
Wouldn’t buy it again. I’ve had Oreck vacuums forever. Decided to buy a replacement. Very disappointed First off the hose that comes with the vacuum only stretches about 2’ and the hose is very stiff. Hard to maneuver. Basically useless!!! So I bought the longer hose. 2nd disappointment, It’s also very stiff and like wrestling a wild animal to vacuum anything. And by getting the longer hose, the suction goes down by half. Hardly picks anything up. If the bag gets 1/4-1/3 full, suction is non existent. The dirt comes back down the hose and falls out on the floor. I can’t believe Oreck puts their name on it. A once awesome company is now a big disgrace. Wouldn’t buy another Oreck of any kind in the future. Honestly, Don’t waste your money!!! You’ll get more dirt up with a sticky roller
