Mengo Aluma Stick Universal Magnetic Car Mount Dashboard Phone Holder for All Smartphones

This review is more to let everyone know about the style change.I bought one for my car back in July, and recently decided to buy another for my truck. The new one I received did not look the same as the first one I received.In the 1st pic (of the two boxes), you can see in the images on the box that the design and height of the base has changed. What may not be obvious in this picture, however (due to its fine print) is that the model number (bottom-left corner of each box, under the word "MOUNT") did not change - both boxes have MG293 as the model number.The 2nd pic is the first one I ordered (original design), mounted in my car. This design did result in a lot of vibration being transferred through the base to the phone while driving. It was also not quite as tall as I expected.The 3rd pic is the second one I received (new design), mounted in my truck. I have not tested this one out yet, but I'm optimistic the new design, with the shorter & braced mount, will reduce vibration.The 4th pic is a stock photo of the original design, taken from Amazon.com (for reference, since I'm assuming at some point the images will be updated).

REALLY -- one of the biggest issue I have with this phone mount doesn't stem from the mount itself but from the small footprint and the rather weak top of the dashboard. The small foot of the holder tightly attaches to the dashboard but the surface will bend slightly back & force and the phone keeps tilting & shaking.GOOD NEWS : With a mid-size phone (5.5"), the magnet hasn't disappointed me and the phone keeps shaking but so far has not fallen off.NOTICE : The holder has a limited range to adjust and if the top of your dash isn't leveled, you can mount the phone but you cannot tilt it downwards much. When there are reflections & glare, you will want more adjustments.NOTICE : While this holder comes with plates to attach to the phone, my recommendation is to use them with phones with a removable back. Plates attached externally create too much friction as they tangle with every pocket and everything that in in there.

I wanted a phone mount that would be less bulky for my dash and this one works great. The magnetic functionality works very well and the base is easy to adjust in order to face the screen in the best direction. I placed the magnetic plate for the phone under a double layer (rubber piece and plastic cover) phone case and have had no issues with the phone staying attached even on bumpy roads. The only thing keeping it from 5 stars is that the sticky base is quite rigid and my car doesn't have a flat surface large enough for it to fully adhere to- wish that it was slightly more flexible. However, the mount has stayed put even in 95+ heat in Texas.

I loved this product off and on for the last 11 months. However yesterday it just disintegrated. Item was not over tightened, abused in any way. The first problem I had was after about 6 months the 3m tape gave out and so I didn't use it for about 4 months until I finally found a different solution. Yesterday I was taking my phone off the magnet and that's when everything seemed to disintegrate.The short time this product was used, I loved it. The magnet is strong(which may have been the reason it broke), it was versatile and able to be positioned asst different angles, it was great.

I have had several of these magnetic phone mounts. I have a couple other brands in my various vehicles. This one by Mengo is my favorite because the magnet is the strongest. On the others I have bumped the phone and knocked it off the magnet. This has never happened with the Mengo. My wife installed it on the dashboard of our SUV and the peel and stick adhesive has held strong. I would highly recommend.

Used this with an iPhone X and everything worked great for about 10 days. However, I came out to the car today to find the mount on the floor. The adhesive simply gave out. I followed the installation instructions exactly as they were written. I found a flat area on the dash, cleaned it with alcohol, pressed firmly on the adhesive tape for several minutes, and waited until the next day to attach the magnet and use the mount. It is getting cold here on the east coast, so perhaps that is part of the problem. The unit came with an extra adhesive strip, so I guess I'll try again. One other thing to be aware of is that the metal plate that you must attach to the phone or phone case prevents qi wireless charging from working.

This is good for holding your phone so you can see it , and allows for touching screen. base is well attached to surface and holds my galaxy s5 with rubber Otter cover firmly on my dash. I would Highly recommend for flat surfaces up near dash top In Cars. Trucks, Off road, you may have some stability issues if recording videos. Rough roads can make the phone slip from its position but still maintains grip of the phone.

I bought this because of the ball mount for the magnetic head; it fits nicely on my Garmin dashboard mount, which doesn't require an adhesive pad to stay on the dashboard, so it can be moved to another car when needed. I attached the metal plate to the back of my iPhone, and it seems to work even through the OtterBox case, although if the phone is not exactly centered, it will slip down a little on the magnet head.Altogether I am very happy with my purchase.
