8-oz Heavy Base Rocks Old Fashioned Whiskey Glasses, Set of 12

MADE IN USA. We love supporting American products and the quality of these glasses do not disappoint. I find myself reaching for these regularly. They are a bit smaller in ounce capacity than a different brand I also have on our shelf, but I find myself liking these more and more, choosing these over the other ones. They have a firm base and are a strong glass. With lots of hosting of family and friend gatherings, we have not broken a single glass yet. They are simple and lovely in design and match any table setting. They wash well in the dishwasher and have become a staple in our home. I would purchase these again.

I received my glasses today. No cracks, no brakes during shipping. They are well made. Sturdy but not to thick. I have found some bubbles. For years I have bought the same glass design. Simple and elegant! But after a couple of years they began to cloud up. I use my dishwasher maybe once a month just to keep it going. So I know that's not the problem. I'm even careful with what detergent I buy. Still cloudy after about a year. So I opted for made in the USA. We generally try to do that anyway. We need to keep our fellow Americans employed. I have several baking dishes by Anchor Shocking and have never had a problem with them. They are a little smaller than the previously purchased glassware but, if it doesn't cloud up. Well I'll get used to it. Ill update at a later date.

I'm actually surprised by some of the negative reviews. I bought this set last summer, and I've been using the glasses daily since then. To date, none have broken, none are "cloudy," none are anything other than great glasses. These are sturdy glasses that have a bit of heft to them and that are perfectly straight (this matters if you have limited cabinet space or a smallish dishwasher). I wash these in the dishwasher and have never had a problem with them. Catch-22: I would buy this product again, but if I needed to (i.e. they were awful and broke at the drop of a hat), I wouldn't. Edit: This summer, I'll have had these glasses for two years, and they are still going strong. I use them daily, wash them in the dishwasher, and have even stuck some in the freezer and they thawed just fine. Not a crack to be found on any of them. I recently bought a new set for a friend's daughter who was moving out for the first time, and she likes them very much. One thing I noted that I didn't in my initial review is that the labels on the glasses are ones you can easily pull off without resorting to soaking in warm water or goo-gone products. They just peel right off (yes, I am so anal that I peeled them all off before gifting them).

We tried another brand of Whiskey Glass first. It was optically very clear, very heavy, and felt very sturdy. But it was made overseas and it did not feel good in the hand. So we did more browsing and found these glasses. They feel very good in the hand. Just the right size and shape. So far they have held up to dishwasher and hand washing. The glass is not as optically clear as the more expensive one that we tried first, but these are about 1/4 the price. These are good enough to gift or use yourself. We are gifting 4 of our set to a friend. Update: 9-10-24: We bought the '12 ounce' version of the glass for general drinking glasses. The quality is the same as we observed on the smaller 8 ounce glasses. Very good. They all arrived in great shape as they were double boxed. Update October 2025: We just bought another set of the 8 oz Whiskey Glasses. Despite what other reviewers have said, these glasses are actually better quality than the ones we purchased in October 2020. They are .6 of an ounce heavier than the previous ones. Great Glasses! The 12 ounce rating is a bit misleading. We have two different measured carafe's that say that these glasses are a bit shy of a 12 ounce capacity. With a reasonable amount of air space above the liquid for walking and not spilling, these are really about an 8 ounce glass. A little small for my general needs. But these glasses feel really good in the hands. They are space efficient. They are durable enough. Good value for the money if you want an 8 ounce glass.

Packaged nicely for shipping. None came broken. Stickers on the bottom of each glass came off easily. The design is simple. I like the esthetic. The walls are perpendicular to the base, so they fit nicely and efficiently in the dishwasher. There are no corners to cause pressure points when they are placed together that might increase the likelihood of chipping or breaking. The walls are slightly thicker than the glasses that we previously had (which slowly broke over time), but still much thinner than the standard beer glass you might find at a bar. The glasses are also slightly heavier than our prior glasses. They are a good weight and are stabilized by extra thick glass at the base. I think they are a good value - better quality than the "standard" glasses we bought previously.

My wife and I have been looking for some good, simple, sturdy glasses for a while, and we decided on these because of the simple design, clear glass, heavy base, and good size (15 oz). I was a bit nervous about having glasses shipped, but because of their excellent customer service I know that Amazon would replace any broken ones. The glassed arrived very well packed in a thick cardboard box with good dividers between glasses. All of the glasses arrived fine, without any damage at all. Each glass had a bar code sticker on the bottom, but they all came off in the dishwasher. The glasses themselves are very sturdy, hold the perfect amount of liquid, and have a simple & elegant design that we really like. The base is weighted, but I would not call them heavy. Overall I feel these are an excellent value - 12 high quality glasses for a very reasonable price. If you are looking for a set of glasses I recommend that you give these a try.

There is definitely a disconnect at the Anchor Hocking factory. I have ordered this product 3 times and each time the outside box says that it contains 12 oz glasses and when I open the box, the glasses have mysteriously shrunk during the shipping process and the box contains 8 oz glasses. I have given up on ordering these glasses.

I got this as a Christmas present for my boyfriend. The glasses he had before were too thin. Expensive and great quality, but the lip would chip off too easily. So he tossed those away and was looking for new glasses for his gin & tonic. I came across these and the details were beautiful and I read that it had a good weight to them. When we received them, my boyfriend's eyes lit up! HE LOVED THEM! he loved the little diamond details on the bottom. He noticed the imperfections on the lip but loved that it wasn't mass made, manufactured glasses! He said that the little imperfections were what made them special :) The weight of the glass was perfect and the added layer to the lip felt nice when drinking!
