Basic Illustrated Knots for the Outdoors (Basic Illustrated Series)

I love the smart and concise collection of knots in this little book. The illustrations are lovely and the author’s descriptions of specific knot uses are helpful.I take this book with me everywhere that I might have 5-20 minutes to practice.I found that most knot books have WAY too many knots (200+!) and are overwhelming to even thumb through. I like having a scaled down, practical list of knots to learn instead.I use this book in conjunction with YouTube, because sometimes you just need to see the knot being made live and in 3D.

Excellent book. Well illustrated and covers all the basic knots. Sit down with a short piece of rope and practice. It's really great to know how to tie a knot that will hold and still be easy to untie. My mother used to tie everything with a "knife knot" The only way to get it loose was with the aid of a good sharp knife. She was dangerous with a piece of string.

Good book definatly for beginners and refresher for knots that are not used alot

Well illustrating with all the useful knots. I recommend anyone to buy this then sit around with some light rope and practice these until you can do them eyes closed. When you need to tie, you need to be able to do it blindfolded!

actually got it for a gift, but I'll read it first. it looks like it has all I need. great pix and illustrations.

The right knot for the job saves time and protects your line. I like the clear instructions and nice photos of the the knots.

for me this book was not as helpful with learning knots as I would have liked. not enough instructions per knot, basically a few pictures that show you knot. I think there are better options in knobt books than this one

I didn't know what to make of this book at first but I have grown to appreciate the presentation more and more as I view other books on knots or watch youtube videos. The knots in this book is all you need for canoeing and camping. Why learn how to tie knots that you won't use. It is a short book but you won't waste your time reading things that you don't need to know. I recommend this book.
