This breathtaking acrylic on canvas has the traditional patterns of the Plains Indian’s way of life inherent in all of Red Star’s work. However, the muted color palette of “Young Crow Chief” gives this piece a unique and provocative quality that sets it apart from other Red Star paintings. The powerful stature of both the young Crow Indians and their Appaloosas galloping through the Great Plains is highlighted by the ochre glow that sweeps through the canvas. When fully engaged in the scene Red Star has created, you can almost hear the sounds of horses cutting through the quietness of a Western sunrise.
