The price was excellent and I love the design and craftsmanship. The pieces handle so beautifully and are full of character - like they are ready to take on the challenge immediately! If I had to fault anything it is the felted plastic compartments for storage which probably will not last long. Functional and decorative and of course, can be stored and carried anywhere.

We bought the for our son for Christmas who loves it everything about it. The carving, storage of chess pieces, and rich color.

I really enjoy this chess set. The quality of the board and the pieces is decent, and I like that I can store the pieces directly inside the board when it's folded in half. I would definitely recommend this for someone who likes chess and wants a board a little nicer than the basic black and white without breaking the bank.

A good looking board that can be decorative to a room.It's a bit light. The pieces are light too. So some caution if playing with kids. It is easy to knock over the pieces.Some parts from the pieces came loose fairly easily. That was easy enough to fix with a small amount of wood glue but disappointing.The pieces can easily be stored within the board.For the price, it's a good set, but a little delicate.

I got this chess set recently as I just started getting into Chess, and it’s super convenient for storage and travel. I purchased a 17” laptop bag to protect it and carry it around, and it fits great. The only one thing about this set itself is there are a few little details you may want to fix yourself. I went ahead and put newspaper behind the plastic/velvet trays and then glued them all in place around the edges so that when you fold the set open initially to get the pieces out they do not fall out, which kept happening to me. This also added some stability to the slots you insert the pieces into for storage. I also did notice that the small wooden balls they use for the queens crown was crooked on the black set, but was perfect on the white set. I honestly have just ignored it for now as it’s not a big deal, and this chess set did not break the bank or anything. Those are my 2 little caveats to it, but again, for the price you’re doing really good still.

Well made with European craftsmanship

I purchased this as a starter set for my son. Really nice appearance, especially the board. However, I was specifically seeking "weighted" chess pieces. These chess pieces are not weighted as described in the product description. Otherwise, I'm happy with the chess set, and I plan to get years of use out of it.

This is a beautiful chess board. This was all my boyfriend wanted for his birthday and I wanted to make sure I found him a good quality board. When it arrived I opened it to make sure it was in tact with all the pieces and I was in awe. You can tell it’s real wood and you can tell it’s hand carved in all of the details. The colors compliment each other so well and it’s wonderfully made. I looked at a lot of chess boards and I’m so glad I picked this one. He loved it and immediately asked to play a game of chess right after he opened it. There are small imperfections in the carvings but it makes it feel that more real and more beautiful. 10/10 would recommend to someone to purchase for themselves or as a gift.
