Never knew I needed one of these till I got one
I'm using one of these (BenQ Halo) with an ASUS 43" curved ultrawide monitor. Initial impressions are extremely good. This looks and feels like a quality product. Very nicely packaged and easy to fit. There's an included spacer for a curved monitor, which I am using. If the lamp flashes it means there's not enough power being supplied by whatever USB port it's plugged into. It's not faulty. I have it plugged into a mains USB adapter and it works perfectly. The rear light is a nice touch and works well. Not sure at all about people saying they turn it on by waving a hand. The instructions say 'Tap the Power button to turn on the lamp' so this might explain why folk are having trouble with trying to turn it on without touching it. Someone said it wasn't bright enough. Seriously? I have it on a low setting and it's perfect. The remote control is heavy, which as a rule of thumb I tend to think means it's well made. This lamp reduces eyestrain very well and there is not a trace of glare or reflections on the screen. I didn't need the included pad for slim monitors. It sits securely on my monitor. I went for the optional webcam attachment bracket. To my surprise this is worth the money and works very well. If you want to use a webcam with this lightbar do get the webcam bracket also. It's not cheap but better than precariously balancing the webcam on top of the lightbar. I would recommend this lightbar without reservation.

High quality monitor light, which performs flawlessly
Not the cheapest monitor light which you're going to find, but as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. I thought the rear facing light was a bit of a gimmick to begin with, but I've found that it really helps to prevent eye strain throughout the day. The downward-facing light illuminates the keyboard and desk area perfectly, and when sitting (or standing) correctly, you shouldn't be able to see any LEDs directly. The remote control looks extremely smart, and allows for easily changing modes, adjusting the brightness and colour temperature between cold and warm white. Normally I hide buttons and switches where possible, but on this occasion it looks very stylish so I'm happy for it to sit on the desk. Finally, attaching an external webcam to the lightbar is very straightforward, however depending on the make/model of webcam, you might need to purchase an adapter to bridge the gap.

Very impressive, premium feel, does what it says, though heck it's pricey! Remote is a bit 'meh'
Really been struggling to find a light for when I am working at my desk until I read about this in some tech expert's blog of things he couldn't live without - I had never noticed monitor lights were a thing before. I have really struggled with not having enough light at my desk. I didn't like the glare from other lights I tried, and also don't want the light source in my field of vision.I REALLY baulked at spending this much on a light, but have to say I am quite surprised at how good it is. The top of my monitor is quite a bit above eye level, but surprisingly I can't see the LEDs, and there is absolutely no glare on the screen.I like the levels of brightness and colour temperature, and the rear-facing light. Too soon to tell if it helps with eye strain. Not overly impressed with the remote. It's just OK. A bit bulky and doesn't seem to wake up from just rotating the dial. Would be better if it was rechargeable rather than using 3 x AA batteries (which are supplied).I'd have given it 5 stars, but I think the remote could be better, and heck, it's pricey. I have bought a cheaper one for a location I also work from, it was a third of the cost. Is it as good as this? No - more light bleed, less controllable, but still very good. Is this one worth a premium price? Yes, I would say it is, works well and feels premium quality, though not 3 x better than the cheaper one! That being said, I do not regret getting it.

Essential to any desk
Heard so many reviews about the Benq Screen bar Halo. I have to say, first impressions this is definitely worth the money. I work from home, with a 2 x 24 inch dual monitor set up. Overall a lot of reading at my desk during the day and night. This beats standard desk lights or any other monitor light. The separate wireless control is very handy, especially when sky forms with clouds, just a quick press of the automatic button it senses ambient light and adjust accordingly. One of the best features, is that I no longer have the eye strain that I was getting from different desk lamps as the light is evenly spread out over my desk, providing a lot of coverage. Money well spent.
