Living in the Mountains, I needed an emergency shovel to dig myself out of trouble outdoors or when dealing with snow. This system has multiuse blades for chopping and cutting, as well. This weighs about a pound, and it has a nylon spade cover which can be mounted onto a backpack for hiking. The handle is reinforced with an additional plate for durability. A small flat edge on the shoulder helps for digging.I used a Ken Onion Worksharp to reprofile the blade for more usable blade edges. Chopping wood or branches is essential for me.A hand saw accompanies this shovel, which has nylon straps. Considering I have many trees that fall onto our 1/3 mile long driveway at any time, it works for the emergency use of cutting downed small trees or thick heavy branches of oak, poplar and birch trees.Great value for these tools. This item came on time and was very nice. I like the entrenching tool a lot, save for it’s one flaw: the big, bright, silver retaining color at the top of the handle. I will, certainly be duracoating it. So, the shovel gets 4 beautiful stars for weight, durability and, let’s face it, the spade looks awesome.UPDATE 8/10/2020:This shovel is still kicking. I can’t recommend this product any higher as, it is built like a tank and holds up to the stresses of extreme use. The only thing I would change is to make a telescopic version, similar to the out-of-production Crovel Shovel II, adding a prying instrument to the base, and cord wrapped handle.Unfortunately, this product hasn’t been available for quite a while now. I have been patiently waiting for it to be re-introduced to the Amazon marketplace by Ratel Gear, however, there has been no movement on this product. The minute it is available again, I will buy another. My friends will also buy these, as they missed out on the original release of this wonderful product before it became unavailable. This is most certainly a shovel that should be on the market. I don’t know why it’s not available.Ratel Gear, if you’re reading this… Get this product back in the market place, here, as it is one of the best survival shovels that I have ever owned.

I didn't receive my manual chainsaw, I'm happy with the shovel it is going to be a great addition to my gear, but I would like to be shipped the rest of my package.
