Q: Does this need a driver?

Hi, depending on your version of windows but certainly windows 10 and 11 both have drivers inbuilt and it is plug and play, I’ve been using mine since bought and it’s been excellent 👍

Q: Hi, does this work if the laptop has the hdmi port and the monitor a vga (does it matter which way round it is)? thanks

Works plugging into HDMI socket on my laptop to a VGA monitor. Not sure on the other way round as haven’t tried it.

I have it running the opposite way, HDMI out to a VGA monitor but I see no reason why signal won't go the other way.

Q: How long is the wire?

I don't have a tape measure to hand but I would guess roughly 10-12cm not including the plugs
