If you need to get really close, the clear plastic cup is in the way.I used mine to fish cactus spines out of my finger. The plastic cup was in the way of getting tweezers on my skin. I unscrewed it and the lenses fell out. Now, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to reassemble it. The lenses don’t seem to fit together anymore… if you do buy it; do. Or try to take the clear cup off the back!

Have not had the opportunity to use it extensively yet--so my rating could go up (or down)--But thus far it seems to work well in low light conditions, and the optics are good, especially in view of the price. I had a problem with the cup & lenses loosening up (largely self-inflicted) the first time out; the lack of a user manual or parts diagram did not help matters. However, I contacted the manufacturer (U.S. corporate headquarters) and they were very responsive, actually swapped it for a new unit. Kudos and thanks Opticron!!

Nice lighting and good magnification. If you need to see something in a small crack, you won't be able to with this magnifier because you can't get close enough to focus. Also, the on-off switch is on the side and is vulnerable to turning on when slid into a pocket or its case.
