Opticron LED Hand Magnifier 15x 21mm (0.8")

I like this hand lens, the light actually makes a huge difference. Optical quality is decent, it's not a super high end product, but it does its job perfectly, and I'm actually glad I didn't invest $100 in something fancy, you never know what'll happen to it in the field.

Have not had the opportunity to use it extensively yet--so my rating could go up (or down)--But thus far it seems to work well in low light conditions, and the optics are good, especially in view of the price. I had a problem with the cup & lenses loosening up (largely self-inflicted) the first time out; the lack of a user manual or parts diagram did not help matters. However, I contacted the manufacturer (U.S. corporate headquarters) and they were very responsive, actually swapped it for a new unit. Kudos and thanks Opticron!!

Hard to find a handheld 10s magnifier. This is compact and powerful and has a light. Can't beat that for a useful combination. I use it for a quick examination of questioned documents. Eliminate my need to put everything under the microscope at first glance.

Shows the surface imperfections of finished surfaces.

If you need to get really close, the clear plastic cup is in the way. I used mine to fish cactus spines out of my finger. The plastic cup was in the way of getting tweezers on my skin. I unscrewed it and the lenses fell out. Now, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how to reassemble it. The lenses don’t seem to fit together anymore… if you do buy it; do. Or try to take the clear cup off the back!

Needed this Magnifier and tried loops and cups but this is the best for me. I use it for inspecting the edge on my straight edge razors. It offers a better field of view.

I bough the 15X version. Unlike most of the magnifiers on Amazon, this one doesn't multiply the claimed magnification factor by 10 (or sometimes 100+). It's actually very close to 15X. I wish the light was in a better location. It works okay, but can leave shadows at the outer rim of the view. I moved it to a grow tent where the lights are always on, so there's no need for the light on the magnifier.

The white LED provides enough light for me to examine my plant specimens in details, which is great! Sometimes I do feel the entire magnifier is a bit flimsy, but after few weeks, it is still working quite well.

Good for mineral identification and runs on aaa batteries not button batteries.

The magnifier is okay but it is missing some cylinder.Because the light is outside which makes it difficult to use.

J'utilise cette loupe pour étudier les mousses sur le terrain. L'image est de bonne qualité. L'éclairage est efficace avec des piles AAA plus pratiques et plus durables que les piles bouton. Le moins: ils auraient pu inclure un anneau pour fixer un collier pour la porter au cou, et l'anneau transparent est un peu trop proéminent pour modifier l'angle d'observation. Quand l'objet à observer est mouillé il y a beaucoup de reflets avec les LED

Works great, all as expected

This Opticron 57520 15x21mm LED Hand Magnifier is fantastic. It's the best 'hand lens' I've ever used, especially for plants - flowers, leaves, stems - and little insects - larvae, beetles, caterpillars. The LED light show up some beautiful colours one would never see with an ordinary magnifying glass. Battery operated (be careful not to bump the switch when putting away in case), and it fits easily in a pocket.
